๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ National Reconciliation Week, celebrated in Australia on 27 May โ€“ 3 June, is an occasion for us to stop and reflect on how we can actively contribute to reconciliation through our everyday actions. This years' theme, 'All in', reminds us that reconciliation is a shared responsibility.

DT Global is reaffirming its commitment to reconciliation following the launch of our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) in July 2025. Since then, our focus has been on moving beyond intent to meaningful, sustained action that builds a deeper understanding of reconciliation and embedding better practices across how we work, partner, and engage with communities. This includes strengthening cultural capability within our teams and ensuring our projects reflect inclusive, respectful, and locally grounded approaches.

National Reconciliation Week provides an important moment to reflect, learn, and engage. In recognition of this, we have developed a program of activities designed to support learning, connection, and shared understanding across our organisation, including:

โ€ข An online Cultural Capability Workshop, equipping staff with practical tools to strengthen cross-cultural communication and engage more effectively with diverse stakeholders
โ€ข A design workshop with Gammin Threads, encouraging creative expression and personal reflection on reconciliation through art and storytelling
โ€ข A Scar Tree Walk in Naarm (Melbourne), bringing staff together from across Australia for an immersive, on-Country experience that deepens understanding of culture, history, and place.

Beyond these activities, we are encouraging our teams across Australia to actively participate in local events, take time to reflect, and engage with community-led initiatives throughout the week.

Our approach focuses on showing up in a genuine and respectful way, listening to communities, and contributing meaningfullyโ€”not just during this week, but as part of an ongoing commitment to reconciliation.

We look forward to seeing our people come together, learn from one another, and continue building a stronger, more inclusive future grounded in the spirit of reconciliation.

๐Ÿ–ค Today, DT Global acknowledges and reflects on National Sorry Day.

Held every year on 26 May in Australia, it is an important day to pause and think about our painful history and the forcible removal of children who became part of the Stolen Generations.

We acknowledge the strength and resilience of the Stolen Generations, their families, their communities, and all who have been impacted.

We stand together in solidarity, committed to truth, healing, and lasting reconciliation.

Financing agriculture and climate resilience in Africa is undergoing a clear shift, and discussions in Kigali highlighted where the sector is heading.

At the Rwanda Global Gateway Investment Roadshow, supported by our โ€˜Technical Assistance to Policy Implementation in Agriculture and Climate Action within the SRC Frameworkโ€™, funded by the European Commission, two important shifts shaping the future of climate finance in Africa stood out:

1๏ธโƒฃ From projects โ†’ bankable value chains.
Climate-smart agriculture is increasingly about investment structuring, not project funding, moving from standalone initiatives to scalable, investable value chains that can attract private capital.

2๏ธโƒฃ From transactions โ†’ systemic de-risking.
Blended finance is evolving beyond individual deals toward systemic de-risking, where guarantees, technical assistance, and local financial institutions work together to unlock entire investment pipelines.

The next challenge will be turning strong policy frameworks and investment plans into prepared, financeable pipelines that investors can move on quickly.

Progress will depend on stronger project preparation, effective risk-sharing tools, and partnerships that can scale impact beyond pilot initiatives.

What does it actually take to turn regional connectivity ambitions into lasting economic opportunities?

Following the Angola-EU Lobito Corridor Business Forum in Luanda, Delfina Capamba, DT Globalโ€™s Country Manager in Angola, shares her reflections:

Many discussions focused on the corridor as a strategic platform for trade, investment, and regional integration across agriculture, agro-industry, transport, and logistics.

In practice, it looks different.

It often means moving from high-level alignment between EU and Angolan stakeholders to the much harder work of turning corridor potential into structured, bankable projects that connect infrastructure, production, logistics, and markets in a coordinated way.

It also means ensuring that agriculture and agro-industry investments are not treated in isolation, but are embedded in real supply chains with reliable transport, energy access, and clear market linkages.

Delfina notes that long-term success will depend on whether partnerships can move beyond dialogue and into investments that are technically prepared, financially viable, and operationally connected across the corridor.

Too many women delay or skip maternal healthcare due to financial constraints.

Through our Private Sector Partnership in Health - PSPH project, DT Global is supporting the Somaliland Family Health Association (SOFHA) to pilot Umulkhayr, an alternative health financing product designed to make maternal health services more affordable and accessible.

๐”๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ค๐ก๐š๐ฒ๐ซ offers two packages: Antenatal Care (ANC) and ANC plus delivery, including referral support for highโ€‘risk cases and previous caesarean sections.

Following a successful threeโ€‘week pilot, the product is now rolling out through community launch events. At the second launch, held in Hargeisa, we engaged over 50 women, mostly of reproductive age, through health education, dialogue, and product promotion.

While younger women expressed strong interest in routine pregnancy care, older women highlighted unmet needs, from menopausal support to weight management and chronic disease care.

As such, closing gaps in maternal health requires ageโ€‘responsive, womenโ€‘centred financing solutions, which we are happy to conceptualise across Somalia.

Public funding is shifting, and private finance is stepping in. But one issue that continues to hold progress back is coherence across decisions.

In part two of her latest blog, DT Global Europe Managing Director Maria Garron shares insights from more than two decades in development financing, debt sustainability, and public-private partnerships.

And that the challenge is not the tools themselves, but the disconnect between policy, fiscal planning, and investment decisions.

When these come together, projects become more realistic, more affordable, and more likely to deliver. It is not about choosing a financing instrument in isolation. It is about whether the approach fits a countryโ€™s fiscal path and development goals.

๐Ÿ“ With many young people in not yet engaged in , , or , there is a real opportunity to support youth through learning and skill-building initiatives.

Working together to strengthen employability outcomes for young people in South Tarawa, Australia Awardsโ€™ Women and Leading (WLI) alumni, Save Redfern and Teitinrerei Bobo, delivered a series of work-ready workshops focused on equipping young job seekers with the skills required to confidently enter and navigate the workforce.

โ€œThe workshops focused on basic skills, such as crafting tailored CVs and cover letters, and aimed to give the participants the confidence to apply for jobs within local government, organisations, or even to establish their own business,โ€ says Save, who added that the experience was also highly fulfilling for her and Teicy, particularly in building their capacity as leaders.

What can Angola learn from Brazil about making it easier for small businesses to grow?

During a seven-day study visit to Brasรญlia, Angolan officials explored how simplified tax systems can support business formalization and economic inclusion. The visit was part of our PREI programme, funded by the European Commission, and brought together representatives from across government, including planning, finance, and territorial administration.

Working alongside Brazilโ€™s Sebrae, the Revenue Service, and the Ministry of Entrepreneurship, the delegation took a closer look at the Single Simplified Tax model and how a similar approach could be adapted in Angola.

Why Brazil? Its experience designing tax systems for micro and small enterprises offers practical lessons that are both relevant and scalable.

Over the course of the week, participants:
โ€ข Explored how business formalization works in practice
โ€ข Learned how complex tax systems can be made more accessible
โ€ข Built connections with Brazilian institutions leading this work

Beyond the technical insights, the visit also offered a clearer picture of how tax simplification can unlock opportunities for small businesses and strengthen economic participation.

A major step forward for energy security in Bosnia and Herzegovina ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ฆโšก๏ธ

Following final approval in the Federation Parliament, amendments to the Law on the Southern Interconnection have now been adopted, enabling a U.S. investor to move forward with building a pipeline that will carry American gas to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

As highlighted by the U.S. Embassy, this milestone supports new infrastructure that can expand energy access, unlock economic opportunities, and strengthen cooperation between the United States and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Through the United States Government Energy Policy Activity in BiH (EPA), DT Global is supporting efforts to advance a more secure and diversified energy future.

Many of us understand that development finance is at a turning point.

In a new blog, our Managing Director for DT Global Europe, Marรญa Garrรณn, explores why the private sector is no longer a supporting actor, but central to delivering real, sustainable impact.

From the Seville Commitment to the growing global debt challenge, the message is clear ๐Ÿ‘‰ Financial tools alone donโ€™t change lives. Partnerships that connect investment to implementation do.

Maria shares how stronger collaboration between governments, civil society, and private sector actors can unlock innovation, scale solutions, and turn global ambition into tangible results on the ground.
