The FDA is investigating a rash of counterfeit diabetes drug Ozempic (semaglutide) along the United States pharmaceutical supply chain. Demand for this drug and its active ingredient, which is also the active ingredient in popular weight loss drug Wegovy spiked, creating a lucrative market for counterfeit products with ineffective ingredients and unsterile needles. How can you tell if your Ozempic is legit? The answer is in the needle. A transparent blue inner cover with a paper tab that says NovoFine® with information beyond the lot number, don’t take it. If the needle has a transparent inner cover and paper tab that says NovoFine®Plus and just the lot number printed on the blue area of the paper tab, you’re good to go.

Attention Apple IPhone and Apple Watch Users:

IMPORTANT PRIVACY UPDATE: If you have an iPhone and have done the recent iOS 17 update, they have set a new feature called NameDrop defaulted to ON. This feature allows the sharing of your contact info by bringing your phones close together and doing the following.

1. “Do one of the following:
* Share from iPhone to iPhone or Apple Watch: Hold the display of your iPhone a few centimeters from the top of the other person’s iPhone or Apple Watch.
* Share from Apple Watch to another Apple Watch: Open the Contacts app on your Apple Watch, tap your picture in the top-right corner, tap Share, then bring your watch close to the other person’s Apple Watch.�A glow emerges from both devices and Apple Watch vibrates to indicate a connection is being made.
2. Continue holding your devices near each other until NameDrop appears on both screens.
3. Choose to share your contact card and receive the other person’s, or to only receive the other person’s.�To cancel, move the two devices away from each other or lock your iPhone before the NameDrop transfer completes.”

To shut this off go to Settings, General, AirDrop, Bringing Devices Together. Change to OFF.

PARENTS: Don’t forget to change these settings after the update on your children’s phones if you choose to.

IMPORTANT: On Wednesday, Oct. 4th at 2:20 p.m. ET, there will be a nationwide emergency alert test on cell phones, wireless devices, radios, and TVs.

This is a standard test that occurs at least once every three years. No action is needed UNLESS you have a secret phone. We recommend you turn the phone OFF and remember when you turn it back on the test will be sent to your phone.

FEMA, in coordination with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), will conduct a national test of the Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS) on Oct. 4, 2023.
