The Best Leadership Decision I Ever Made

Over the years, people have asked me about the best decision I ever made.

Was it starting a business?

Writing a book?

Serving in elected office?

Building Potomac Core?

None of those.

Forty-six years ago, I asked Jeanine to marry me.

When I was eighteen years old, I lost my sister Andi and my brother Jonathan. Three years later, I lost my Dad. By the time I was twenty-one, I had lost half of my family. Looking back, I've often believed that Andi, Jonathan, and my Dad somehow helped me find Jeanine.

I can't explain that.

I simply know that God brought an extraordinary woman into my life exactly when I needed her most.

She helped me see the light again.

She helped me believe in hope, purpose, and the future.

Most importantly, she helped me thrive.

Forty-six years later, I realize the greatest journeys are never traveled alone.

Happy Anniversary, Jeanine, my beautiful princess, love you forever.

Forty-six years later, it is still the best leadership decision I ever made. ❤️
