I tell my clients this over and over: BACK UP your stuff. I just experienced a full computer meltdown with zero warning. My computer worked one night, then the next morning - dead. Mac store fixed it, but in the process they completely wiped it clean. All my files are up on Backblaze for me to restore.

It's always fun to do a different type of book design project. This storybook was scanned by TimeSorters LLC and then I recreated Grandma Katie's Tapestry Stories. This is a great way for future generations to keep the memories when the original papers might be deteriorating. In this case, the client made six copies, so the whole family could have the same book - another benefit of digital storytelling!

Friday Funnies! Going on vacation this summer? Make sure to get those photos off your camera when you get back. Never keep photos on your camera or phone. Not only could they get lost, but they could even fall into the wrong hands! Print those great ones, organize the rest digitally...and definitely delete the ones you...ahem...don't need to share. (I'm not affiliated with this ad, I just think it's hilarious)

A Monday Hint! Getting your pictures ready to scan.

1. Organize before you digitize.

2. Group the photos by events and people. Sort pictures into events such as vacations, weddings, and birthdays.

3. Separate duplicates. Place duplicates in separate piles so we don't end up scanning the same image twice.

4. Sort each pile by date.

5. Pick what to digitize.

Get your photos out of magnetic (adhesive) albums NOW! This is an album my parents gave to my grandmother in 1989. Yellow and yucky, pages falling out of the binding. I'm refurbishing it with photo-safe supplies - I can fix your albums too!
