DevTech's Cuban Exchange Rate Dashboard provides analysis of how the Cuban Peso is trading against the U.S. dollar and euro in the informal market, offering a perspective beyond the official exchange rate. The dashboard processes thousands of publicly available social media posts and converts reported buying and selling activity into daily time-series data, updated on a weekly basis. The resulting dataset complements the independently collected figures published by elTOQUE. Comparing these two sources, which rely on distinct methodologies, allows researchers to better evaluate exchange-rate dynamics in a context where transparency is limited.

DevTech recently announced the beta launch of DevTech Magpie, an AI-powered research and discovery platform.

DevTech Magpie is a knowledge engine designed to search, analyze, and extract verified insights from complex, curated repositories. DevTech Magpie currently hosts the ASCE Cuba Repository, an archive from the Association for the Study of the Cuban Economy (ASCE) containing more than 1,000 research documents on Cuba dating back to 1990. This resource is particularly relevant at a pivotal moment, as policymakers consider future actions toward Cuba and seek deeper insight into the country's economic and institutional evolution.

Users can explore the archive through traditional keyword search and filters such as author or publication year. The platform also features Ask DevTech Magpie, an AI research assistant that scans the repository, identifies relevant sources, and highlights the exact pages used to generate answers so users can easily verify and cite evidence.

As a beta platform, DevTech Magpie will continue to evolve with new features and expanded repositories. By combining AI-powered analysis with transparent, source-based research, Magpie transforms decades of scholarship into an interactive knowledge engine for researchers, policymakers, and analysts.

“A government is needed that allows the diaspora to get involved in the reconstruction.”

That was the message from DevTech CEO Rafael Romeu in a recent Miami Herald feature examining what Cuba's future could look like in the event of a democratic transition.

Drawing on decades of experience as an economist and advisor to governments around the world, Romeu emphasized that rebuilding Cuba will require more than financial resources.
