Did you know about the new state laws approved by the California State Legislature in 2025 that could affect daily life in ?

At the Jan. 20 City Council meeting, staff presented information about the following new state laws:

🔥 SB 840 directs funding toward wildfire resilience, housing and clean energy

🏠 SB 79 promotes housing in transit-adjacent areas, and AB 130 and SB 131 simplify environmental review requirements for qualifying housing projects.

🧠 AB 348 makes it easier for people with serious mental illness to qualify for intensive behavioral health services.

⚡ AB 1207 creates a new rebate fund to help lower energy costs, increases legislative oversight of climate spending and channels resources toward energy affordability.

🏛 SB 707, a Brown Act update, offers expanded virtual meeting access for the public.
