🎇 And that’s how we add a touch of resilience to our connection and attachment focused parenting!
When I was a new mom, I was running to save my baby every time she cried. I still run to their sides when they are upset.
That’s what we do, mama!
🔑The key, the shift, is this:
At first, I was rushing in to rescue her. Rescue her from tummy time, from frustration with her toys, from unsure feelings about being alone in her crib at bedtime.
➡️But now? Before I rescue, I PAUSE. OBSERVE. ALLOW SPACE. I don’t rush to fix it; instead I ask myself, how can I support so that she feels comfortable and confident TRYING this on her own?
Yes, sometimes this comes with tears. But when I am responding to my child and still a presence of love and support, I am not leaving her to CRY.
I am letting her TRY.
