Tomorrow I release a book I've been thinking about for a long time.

It's called THE INTELLIGENCE CEILING.

And instead of asking the question almost everyone is asking about AI —

“What will it be able to do?”

—I went after the opposite question:

“What actually limits it?”

That took me into thermodynamics and energy, computational complexity, economics, regulation, geopolitics, consciousness, agency, and even the legitimate — and illegitimate — arguments around quantum computing.

But I imposed one rule on myself:

Don't pretend to know things we don't know.

So throughout the book I distinguish between established knowledge, reasonable speculation, and my own bets.

I'm neither interested in worshipping AI nor panicking about it.

I'm interested in being accurate.

Because I think that's becoming increasingly valuable in a world divided between people telling us AI will solve everything and people telling us it will destroy everything.

So tomorrow, for launch day only, I'm making the Kindle edition $0.99.
