But here are 3 reasons they shouldn't recommend solutions: self-review is biased, accountability gets blurred, and fixes might not fit your specific organization. Meet the Team: Julius DeSilva, CEO 👋

What makes a great instructor? Experience matters, but so does knowing how to make a complicated subject easier to understand.

That’s a big part of Julius’ approach at QMII.

With 25+ years of hands-on experience in management systems and more than 15 years in the maritime industry, Julius has worked with organizations across industries including maritime, manufacturing, and service organizations.

But his goal in the classroom isn’t simply to teach the requirements of a standard. It’s to make those requirements practical, relatable, and something students can actually use when they get back to work.

His philosophy is simple: take complex standards and make them easy to understand and apply.

After sailors aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln endured a grueling, record-length deployment — nearly nine months at sea with almost no port stops, food and hygiene supply shortages, and mental health strain severe enough that some crew reportedly attempted to jump overboard — the Navy says it's applying lessons learned to prepare its next carrier for deployment.

Navy leaders said Tuesday they'd apply those lessons to the USS Theodore Roosevelt, set to deploy to the Middle East next month. Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Daryl Caudle said in a video announcement that the Roosevelt is "maximizing its loadout of food, retail products, and hygiene items" before getting underway, and that the Navy is working to ensure more reliable communication for sailors to stay in touch with family.

Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy John Perryman added that the Navy is converting available spaces into additional recreation/quality-of-life areas. Caudle also mentioned new entertainment equipment for the mess decks as part of the quality-of-life push.

The Lincoln's ordeal was worsened after Iran attacked a Navy base in Bahrain that served as a key supply hub, disrupting logistics for the carrier during the Iran conflict.
