Miami showed up—and so did we. 💜

Last week at The Miami Business Show, with over 6,000 attendees, the energy was undeniable… and we felt it both days at the Purple Squirrel Enterprises booth.

The conversations? Nonstop.
The curiosity? Real.
The demand for clarity around hiring in today’s market? Even louder than we expected.

We had incredible discussions with leaders trying to make sense of:
→ A changing job market

And while there was a real thirst for knowledge around how PSE supports companies through fractional HR and Talent Acquisition…
Let’s be honest—the Purple Squirrel Sparkle (yes… purple prosecco) might have stolen the show. 🥂✨

But beyond the sparkle, there were some powerful takeaways:
AI is here! —and it will make companies more efficient.
We heard that across sessions, panels, and conversations.

But our message hit just as hard:
👉 Efficiency in hiring doesn’t replace the human element—it depends on it.

Our session on “Hiring in the Age of AI: What to Automate, What to Humanize” drove home something we believe at our core—
👉 The companies that come out ahead are the ones that keep people—not just process—at the heart of hiring.

On the Talent Acquisition side:

Growing up in North Carolina, March Madness was basically a school-sanctioned distraction.

Teachers would roll TVs into the classroom, and let’s be honest—there was zero learning happening. Everyone knew it. We knew it. They knew it.

For a few weeks, the only thing that mattered was basketball.

And players like Spud Webb made it even better.

5’7”, overlooked… and then out there dunking on everyone like the rules didn’t apply to him.

Fast forward to today, and I see the same thing happening in tech recruiting.

We build these “perfect candidate profiles”…

Then someone completely unexpected comes in and outperforms everyone.

The resume says “no”
The filters say “no”
The hiring manager says “not a fit”

And then… they’re the best hire on the team.

March Madness teaches us something we keep forgetting: The best players don’t always look the part on paper.

Same goes for hiring—especially now with AI.

If we rely too much on filters and automation, we might accidentally screen out the Spud Webbs of the world.

And those are the ones who can change a team.
