💙🏺 June Auction | Featured Highlight | Lot 297

A Chinese blue and white “scrolling flower” and “ice-crack pattern” cylindrical jar
Qianlong period, Qing dynasty

Elegant in form and richly detailed in decoration, this Qing dynasty blue and white cylindrical jar reflects the refined balance of imperial porcelain design.

The body is painted in underglaze blue with scrolling floral motifs, geometric panels, and ice-crack patterns, creating a layered visual rhythm across the surface. Its domed cover, finished with a matching floral and geometric design, is surmounted by a finely carved jewel-form knop.

The zhuang jar form traces its origins to early imperial porcelain traditions, inspired in part by West Asian metalwork forms and later transformed through Chinese ceramic aesthetics. This example presents a dignified silhouette, luminous glaze, and intricate patterning characteristic of fine Qing blue and white porcelain.

From a private collection, Saratoga, California.

✨ June Auction | Featured Highlight | Lot 391

A Chinese carved agate “Ox-Herding” s***f bottle, late 18th century.

Small in scale yet rich in artistry, this agate s***f bottle reveals the beauty of carving within the natural language of stone. The artisan worked with the material’s translucency, veining, and warm brown inclusions, transforming them into part of the composition.

The “ox-herding” scene emerges from the surface with subtle depth and careful placement, allowing figure, animal, and landscape to unfold within the compact form of the bottle. In this miniature vessel, material and image become inseparable—each natural marking contributing to the scene’s quiet charm.

From a private collection, California.

#🏛️ June Auction | Featured Highlight | Lot 326

A Chinese huanghuali table, Qiaotou’an
Qing dynasty

Refined in proportion and quietly elegant in form, this huanghuali qiaotou’an reflects the restrained beauty of classical Chinese furniture.

The table is crafted from carefully selected old huanghuali wood, its warm amber tones and natural grain softened by age into a rich, mellow patina. The gently upturned ends evoke the form of an unfolding scroll, while the cloud-scroll apron and spandrels add a sense of movement without disrupting the table’s clean architectural lines.

Neither overly ornate nor austere, the piece embodies the balance, discipline, and subtle refinement long associated with the scholar’s studio.

From a private collection, Vallejo, California.

đź‘‘ June Auction | Featured Highlight | Lot 194

A Chinese gilt and lifen wooden imperial document chest
Qianlong period, Qing dynasty

Originally made for the safekeeping of important documents, this Qing dynasty imperial document chest reflects both function and ceremonial refinement.

The chest is richly decorated with gilt and lifen detailing, with raised ornamental motifs across the surface and a central gilt metal fitting that draws attention to its formal symmetry. Its squared structure, layered base, and time-softened surface speak to the quiet authority of objects once associated with courtly order and preservation.
