It’s Driver Appreciation Week! 🎉

This week, we’re celebrating the 250+ drivers who represent Excel Courier throughout the DC, Baltimore, and Richmond areas. Being a courier is about a lot more than getting something from point A to point B. And over the years, our drivers have been part of some pretty incredible deliveries.

❄️ A driver who made it through a snowstorm to get a live organ to Chicago in time for transplant surgery.
✈️ A driver who met a private plane and rushed a million-dollar vaccine to a hospital, later learning it was lifesaving for a toddler.
🏥 Drivers arriving at hospitals with the medical equipment patients were waiting on before they could finally go home.
🐶 And on the lighter side, picking up puppies from the airport and getting to watch them run from their crates into the arms of their new owners.

These are just a few of the stories behind the deliveries our drivers make. Sometimes what’s in the vehicle is a package. Sometimes it’s a part, a specimen, a piece of equipment, or something that can change someone’s day or even their life.

That’s why the work our drivers do matters, and why we’re taking this week to put an extra spotlight on them.

We’ll be celebrating all week with raffles, giveaways, driver stories, shoutouts, and more!

Happy Labor Day Weekend, everyone!

We hope you get a chance to reset and enjoy the long weekend, whether that means a beautiful drive, time with friends and family, finally tackling a project around the house, or kicking your feet up and binge-watching that show you’ve been meaning to start for months.

And for those whose work doesn’t stop, we hope you’re able to find a few quiet moments in between.

Back-to-school safety starts with every driver. With more than 250 Excel Courier drivers on the road, we know safe operations go beyond protecting the materials in our care. Our responsibility includes staying vigilant around motorists, cyclists, pedestrians, and schoolchildren. As schools return to session, drivers are slowing down near school zones and bus stops, watching for flashing lights and stop arms, and preparing for children who may cross unexpectedly. A few extra seconds of vigilance can make a meaningful difference.

When approaching a stopped school bus 🚌:

• Slow down early and watch for flashing lights.
• Stop when the bus displays flashing red lights or extends its stop arm.
• On an undivided road, traffic in both directions must stop. Divided-highway exceptions vary by state.
• Stay stopped until the red lights are off, the stop arm retracts, everyone is clear, and the bus begins moving.
• Never pass a stopped bus on the shoulder or try to get around it.
• Put the phone away and leave extra following distance near school zones and bus stops.

Safe delivery means more than moving materials from pickup to destination. It means protecting the people who share the road with us. For every driver, the expectation is straightforward: slow down, stay alert, and give school buses and pedestrians the space they need.
