Excited to announce we’ve partnered with Chance at Towery Builders at their main office in Fairview. This location will be for mammals & turkeys only for now. If you are in or around WNC, this option will allow you to drop off your trophy and save the 2-5 hour drive to our shop in Asheboro. We have been friends with the Towerys since the early 90s and you can trust Chance with the handling of your trophy until we pick it up. We will be doing pick-ups more if needed, but at a minimum, monthly. So do not worry that your animal will risk freezer burn or that it will take longer than a usual time frame to get yours back. All deer or other game dropped off at this location will fall right in line with animals we take in here at the shop directly. These drop offs will also be by appointment only! It’s here. For most of us, it’s what we think about all year long. It’s time to have everything ready to go and get after one. It’s also time to decide how & who you’d like to preserve your memory if you fill your tag. Taxidermy is no different than any other trade or artform in that there are all levels of skill, experience, dedication, and attention to detail. We’re NOT claiming to be the best in the country by any stretch. But, after spending countless money & time chasing after your buck, make sure you find a taxidermist you can feel confident will give you an effort worth your money. If you have any questions about our work, don’t hesitate to call. If you’d like to stop by the shop and ask questions, even better- give us a call and we’ll arrange that. Would love to show you our process. Even if you decide not to use Uwharrie Taxidermy this coming deer season, make sure you do your research. Again, like any other trade- usually you get what you pay for. As a reminder we can now take deer in deer from all 100 counties in NC without having to be skull capped and caped. If you are a hunter traveling out of state- call us on how we need to accept your trophy.

We have moved our shop location! Although there’s clearly still a lot of work to still be done on the outside. If you have an animal with us or if you decide to bring us one in the future, please know that we are at a new location! Can't believe it's already here! Battle of the Bucks is back this season and we've decided to add a youth division! The highest scoring deer we take in during the 2026 deer season (using B&C system) for both adult & youth categories will be free of charge! If you bring a buck and are under the age of 16, you will be considered a youth in this contest. Only deer taken legally from within North Carolina will be entered in the contest. We are thankful for the opportunity to serve everyone again this season. Good luck everyone!

It’s always a special sound when you’re in the shop and you hear the first acorns hit the roof. Can’t believe it’s here already. Looks like we’re going to have another decent acorn crop again this year here in Randolph, NC, but from what I’ve seen it won’t be quite what we’ve had year before last and last year. What are y’all seeing? Now is a great time to scout your heavy bearing oaks and see what they are doing. If they ain’t there yet, they will be shortly! It’s always cool to see what’s in the back of the throat of deer when they come in to see what they’re eating. I’d say over the last 2 years 70-80% of all 4.5+ year old bucks, from September through December have a mouth full of acorns when they were harvested. In my opinion, even if they stopped for a corn pile snack, they’d rather have an acorn any day.
