My goal is always to work hard and play hard. Part of being able to totally unwind and have the time to play hard is doing the right kind of work when you are working. In other words, we need to work smart, not work more - a less is more kind of mentality. But this takes practice and a mindful approach to goal setting and time management.

Does regret ever weigh you down? It's definitely an obstacle to our peace and growth mindset sometimes.

Regret is a debilitating emotion. It takes up so much of our precious time on this planet.

What if we could eliminate regret from our emotional vocabulary?

What if we could make peace with our past choices? How freeing would that be...to accept our choices and outcomes knowing they are fueled by our priorities? Our priorities are ever changing from day-to-day, year-to-year, decade-to-decade. Our choices typically made through the lens of our priorities, opened some doors and simultaneously closed others, by elimination.

We can't have it all. And on one level, it sucks.

But on the other hand, it's part of life and something that connects us all and provides an opportunity to relate to ourselves and the people around us with empathy and compassion knowing we've all done the best we could with the information and capacity we had at the time.

➡️ We can let go of any regret or shame that comes up about the priorities we have set and choices we made in the past.
➡️ We can embrace today and set goals and make choices mindfully based what today brings.
And that doesn't suck at all.
➡️ It's freeing to let go of what we can't control anyway!

We've lost track of all the failures since starting our business. Not that we were counting...

And even though in the middle of the failure moments, we can't help but be discouraged, ultimately failure is not only inevitable, but also like a sunset, it holds the promise of a rising. But we can only rise if we learn from the failure.

Do you have a process around which you analyze and learn from the failure? Both internally by yourself and externally with your whole team - that isn't shame-oriented but hope-oriented?

How big is your pile of papers to go through?
How long has that pile been sitting there?

I still remember cleaning my room as a teenager and getting so distracted by the details, it took forever to go through all the piles. After hours of trying, I'd end up overwhelmed and in a puddle of tears.

The struggle is real. And if it's not for you, what's your strategy? What works for you to maintain a sense of organizational sanity? ;)

It's Friday and I'm in love with....the sun outside my window. The sleeping dogs on my bed. The basil I see in my garden. My runny egg on toast. My morning meeting with Amanda where we talked about a strategy for organizing and prioritizing our work hours. Our clients who trust and inspire us. A peaceful feeling.

Did you know that 42% of business owners are women? That statistic has doubled since 2014, with a huge part of that growth due to minority-owned businesses.

That is reason to celebrate especially if you are part of the 42%! Most likely you went way out of your comfort zone when you started your business and you continue to muster the kind of courage, strength, and faith it takes to keep going!

If you are part of the 42% or know someone who is, what got you/them started and what keeps you going?

It's Friday! Has it been a long week or a week that has flown by with one exciting development after another?

We really enjoy what we do - having all different kinds of clients, problems solving, seeing people passionate about their work, analyzing data, and creating meaningful connections with innovative folks - but sometimes the days when the hard work isn't leading to immediate results - our positive outlook can become cloudy.

If that resonates with you, it will get better. Your work will pay off. The sun always comes up the next day. 🌤

Share in the comments what you do when the clouds of discouragement settle on your or your team?

Have a great weekend! Do something that brings you joy!
