This is what it looks like when a room is still thinking.

This moment — speakers gathered at the edge of the stage, in conversation — captured it for us.

Different perspectives.

Shared curiosity.

A room leaning in.

TEDxAsheville reminded us that ideas don’t just inform us —

They connect us.

They challenge us.

They stay with us.

Grateful for every speaker who showed up with honesty and depth, and for , Ph.D., CSP’s presence in holding the space, and for Barrie Barton’s leadership in bringing this vision to life.

These are the kinds of experiences that ripple outward long after the day ends.

There’s a lot that happens before the lights come up.

For the past 9 months, we’ve had the privilege of being part of the leadership team behind TEDxAsheville — working alongside an incredible group of people to bring this event to life.

Last Friday, every seat was filled.

The room was alive with ideas, energy, and connection.

But what stays with us most isn’t just the event —

It’s the people who made it happen.

Grateful for a team that showed up fully, for speakers who brought real thought and presence, and for leadership from Barrie Barton that held it all together with care and clarity.

And a special nod to who guided the day with such steady, thoughtful energy.

This is what it looks like when a community builds something together.

Most people think “no” closes a door.

We’re starting to think it opens one.

A well-placed "no" can:
• protect your energy
• clarify what you stand for
• and quietly make room for the right opportunity to show up.

We wrote a short reflection about the surprising power of saying "no" here at Kinetic Talent — including a moment when declining a client actually strengthened an important relationship.

It turns out “no” can be a portal.

If you’re navigating a decision right now, this one might resonate.

Say No to the Wrong Thing—and Watch the Right Thing Show Up No is a boundary, sure. But it’s also a portal. When you say no to something that doesn’t fit—whethe

Checklist. Agenda. Next point.

When structure moves to the foreground, presence disappears.

Keep structure in the background.

Don’t just understand what they’re saying.

Help them see it clearly enough to act.

Insight gets powerful when it’s distilled.

One thing we believe deeply at Kinetic Talent: if we’re asking leaders to grow, we should be growing too.

Right now, Joanne and I are in the process of pursuing our PCC certification through the International Coaching Federation.

It’s the next level beyond our ACC credential, and it represents a lot of hours of training, supervision, practice, and reflection.

Not because we needed another line on a résumé!

Because the leaders we work with deserve the best coaching we can offer. AND, we love growing in mastery of this practice.

This work asks us to keep learning, keep sharpening our listening, and keep developing the discipline to serve our clients well.

So this step is simply part of the Kinetic Talent way: stay curious, keep growing, and bring our best to the people we support.

We’re grateful to the many leaders who trust us with their growth. You’re the reason we keep raising the bar.
