Ujamaa market place will take place on First Saturdays in March, April, and May from 10 am - 3 pm. Our location will be the section of S. Market between S. Pack Square and Eagle Street. With partners like Noir Collective AVL, Center for Participatory Change, Merchants of Downtown Asheville, and Just Folks, we envision this opportunity expanding to Triangle Park.

If you are interested in participating in this endeavor, then join us by filling out this form. Unfortunately, there is no access to electricity or water so the space will NOT accommodate FOOD TENT vendors.

👉Enjoy live music at LEAF Global Arts with .freeman.5205, aka “The Blue Ridge Boy,” bringing you acoustic blues from the Delta to the Piedmont. Stop by for art openings at PennyCup and the YMI Cultural Center, and don’t miss just down the street!

👉As Latinx Heritage Month approaches, is excited to highlight the work of Venezuelan artist , featured in the “This Skin I’m In” exhibit. Join us for a special showcase of her art and enjoy light bites as well

👉At PennyCup, experience Micah Mackenzie: A World of Architecture Through the Lens, showcasing stunning architectural photography from around the world and Asheville. Come immerse yourself in a visual journey!

👉Lastly, visit YMI Cultural Center for a partial reshowing of the 2008 exhibit, That’s Me!, which portrays Black Asheville before Urban Renewal, highlighting the impact of federal programs that reshaped communities. This exhibit calls for reflection on reparations and the ongoing legacy of loss in Asheville.
