Next week, Joe Minicozzi will be in to talk about how land use decisions today can help them build a stronger, more sustainable economic future. We're excited to be working with our friend Victor Dover from Dover, Kohl & Partners - Town Planning on the Lake Wales Envisioned effort!

A packed house greeted a team of planners, traffic engineers and developers Monday afternoon to hear presentations that may help shape the future of Lake Wales. Experts shared the keys to creating a superior community to begin the process of Lake Wales Envisioned. The months-long effort to deal with...

"After running the numbers, it was determined that dense urban development, especially multi-story, multi-use buildings, results in the highest property values... Shreveport’s future will depend on our ability to understand and willingness to act on this new information."

Thanks to the City of Shreveport for letting us share what we've learned about your community's fiscal resilience. Understanding what's led to your current situation - and what you can do about it starting today - takes courage and vision, and we found both in abundance in .

Urban3 analyzed Shreveport's land value and our ability to manage our deficits, such as broken water pipes and crumbling roads.

At the end of last year, Urban3 had worked in more than 170 cities across 37 states. We’re proud to begin 2022 by sharing the news that more new places throughout the country have asked for our help to make their communities stronger, more resilient, and more prosperous:

Most local governments are sitting on a virtual “gold mine” without realizing it. The City of Atlanta Government has engaged us to quantify and visualize the potential of its publicly owned assets, with the intent to utilize the untapped value to meet policy goals.

Situated in a rapidly growing northeast region of the Golden State, Shasta County, California will work with us to determine where and how they can grow with a fiscally sustainable approach.

City of Bothell Government straddles two counties in the Seattle metropolitan area, where housing and transportation costs have skyrocketed in recent years. We’re going to work with them to visualize several potential growth scenarios, and quantify the impact of recent transportation infrastructure investments.

City of Shreveport Government is at a crossroads: during the pandemic, local leaders aggressively cut its budget and feared for the worst. Through a series of wise financial decisions and data-driven accounting choices, they are now in the best financial position in decades. However, Shreveport faces the prospect of expanding its developed footprint without gaining population. In a new approach to fiscal impact analysis, we are going to help the community “do the math” and visualize varying approaches to growth.

These are communities big and small, from the pacific northwest to the deep south. What unites them is a belief that they can make better use of their resources today to build better places for tomorrow. We’re excited to get to work.

If you think we can help your community build a stronger and more stable financial future, please be in touch. We’d love to help: urbanthree.com/contact-us/

Next year, we're going to be working closely with our partners at UNC Asheville, Strong Towns, and the Racial Justice Coalition AVL to examine racial and economic disparities in the way property is assessed throughout western North Carolina. Thanks to the Asheville Citizen Times for sharing why this work matters so much to so many families throughout our region.

Stay tuned -- there's much more to come on this in 2022.

A Buncombe County committee and a UNC Asheville-led project seek to address racial and economic disparity in tax assessment.
