The year 1904 marks the beginning of a new era for many people involved in alternative spirituality. In April of that year the English magus Aleister Crowley received a prophetic text from a discarnate entity which announced a new spiritual Aeon for mankind superseding the Aeon of the Abrahamic reli…

“The word death is not pronounced in New York, in Paris, in London, because it burns the lips. The Mexican, in contrast, is familiar with death, jokes about it, caresses it, sleeps with it, celebrates it, it is one of his favorite toys and his most steadfast love.”
—Octavio Paz (Mexican poet/writer)

Artwork by Netanel Miles-Yépez, who says this about his painting: “The basic imagery of ‘Ajedrez’ [chess] comes from a dream I had when I was young. In it, I saw my grandfather as a mu**to, a ‘dead one,’ being fed by my aunt. In the painting, however, it is my mother sitting at a chess table—he loved to play chess—feeding him his own ‘queen,’ representing the feminine. A window in the room looks out on his beautiful hometown of Guanajuato in colonial Mexico.

“My grandfather was an educated man in Mexico, having studied philosophy in the university, but was forced to leave during the bloody Mexican revolution. In the United States of the early-to-mid 20th-century, he could only find work in a factory and lived a somewhat dingy existence, somehow made worse by the knowledge of a world of grandeur within him.

“Though he was an incredible man—almost legendary in my family—he was a poor father who could not manage to give his daughters the affection they needed. Thus, the painting ultimately depicts the victory of his daughters over him, feeding him his own queen. That is to say, they all became women of courage and substance who made good lives for their families.

“The interesting part of the dream was that, although I had seen Dia de los Mu***os, ‘Day of the Dead’ imagery as a child in Mexico, I was not aware of the holiday itself or the custom of ‘feeding the dead’ when I had the dream. And yet, the dream’s imagery was exactly in accord with the traditional beliefs!”— Netanel Miles-Yépez via http://www.albionandalus.com/albion-andalus-gallery/

Here's a nice bath when someone wants to heal their attitudes and relationship with Love. It can be done to help the healing process after a break-up or when a couple has been through a rough time, it's also appropriate after a fight with a son or daughter or other loved one.

Make a tea of about a half a cup of rose petals along with a couple of tablespoons of althaea leaf and a few sprigs of all-heal. Once the tea has steeped for 21 minutes, strain it and add it to a full tub of water. Also add to the bath a cup of salt (pink salt is a lovely addition although coarse or kosher salt works fine as well).

Ochosi is described as the orisa of archery. Though he was certainly venerated by archers, his allusion to archery is more concerned with the talents that archery requires; for example: the ability to see from many angles, to strategize, to focus, and to take action.
