Tomorrow is the first day of school in Hanover County, VA! Please plan your commute accordingly as there will be extra traffic on our roadways. Here are a few tips about sharing the road safely with school buses.

- Never pass a school bus from behind if it's stopped to load or unload children.
- If the yellow or red lights are flashing & the stop arm is extended, traffic must stop.
- The area 10 feet around a school bus is the most dangerous for children; stop far enough back to allow them space to safely enter & exit the bus.
- Be alert; children often are unpredictable, and they tend to ignore hazards & take risks.

If you are getting a document notarized and the certificate for the the Notary says ‘sworn’ and they do not give an oath the Notary is not doing their job.
I always administer an oath when required, when doing a loan signing I do it before we start to cover all documents within the package that requires an oath.

While skipping a step in a notarization may seem harmless, it can get you in serious legal trouble. Notary law expert Michael Closen examines a real-life case where this happened.

Instead of posting a photo of the Twin Towers burning on Sept. 11, 2001, we wanted to share this photo of the Tower of Voices at the Flight 93 Memorial in Shanksville, Somerset County. Standing 93 feet high, it features a wind chime for each of the 40 individuals who died on Flight 93 when the hijacked plane crashed in the field on that fateful day. It's often quite windy there at the 2,200-acre park and the sound of those wind chimes is breathtakingly beautiful. If you have a chance, visit the Flight 93 Memorial and never forget what happened on that tragic day.
