Hey guys, I'm TYGER and I'm checking in today from The Sanctuary!
First, lemme tell you about this place! It has an INSIDE! I get to go INSIDE!
I lived outside my entire life - 7 years - and was never allowed inside a building before. But the first day, this lady kept pushing me through an opening in the wall and I was so scared. I cowered down cause I am not supposed to be inside! The humans I used to know never let me go inside!
I did sleep outside the first night, on a blanket the rescue lady gave me. It was in the low 70's so she wasn't too worried about me. She sat with me and told me it was the last time I could do it though, and the next night she would be locking me inside if I didn't start coming in.
Well........she didn't have to worry about that, cause the next day I was in and out like a crazy maniac!
Since then, I've gone to see a guy named Dr. Brad. To tell you all the truth, he's not my favorite guy in the world. He poked me all over with things called needles and kept telling me it was for my own good. 🤣
So I guess Dr. Brad found some bad things going on inside me. And the Rescue Lady gave me some extra pets and love when she told me that my heart is full of worms. And now I'll have to get more needles stuck into me in order to kill them and feel better.
I've felt poorly for so long, I'm not sure what 'better' is, but she promised me it'd be worth it. And I don't think I have a choice, after all. This Rescue Lady is pretty tough yano. She DID push my 72 # body thru the hole in the wall!!!
Dr. Brad also says that I walk funny and hop cause my knees are 'wrecked'. And there is nothing he can do for them at this late stage, other than anti-inflammatories and pain killers. 😢
So every morning and every night the Rescue Lady gives me these amazing little things called Pill Pockets and they are DELISH! I guess the contain my 'medicines' but I don't care! They are one of the best things I've ever tasted in all my life!!! 😋
So right now I'm on something called a HW protocol which is getting me ready for the injections into my back/lumbar to kill those worms in my heart. I will take these medications for 4 weeks before I can start the poke part. The Rescue Lady told me they've done this poke part before, and that It'll be ok. She'll be with me and Dr. Brad is very careful. I'm trying not to think about it. I'm kinda scared.
So let me tell you a little about my past. I came from a farm, owned by Mennonites in Indiana. They made me live there for 7 years so I could make puppies for them and then gave me away when I could no longer do a good job for them. But boy was I lucky, cause this Rescue Lady found me and this past week has been the best ever. Do you know that she has given me 4, yes FOUR, blankets to sleep on?!
She says I can have as many as I want cause I'm a very good boy and never potty or mess inside my kennel space.
Yano what the Rescue Lady really hates about me though? After I p**p I kick and kick and kick and kick and make the little pea stone fly all over and hit everything and everyone within 15' of me! I think it's funny but that Lady says I could hurt a dog's eye with my actions and she's going to move me up to her house to have my own grassy yard instead.
I can't wait to be up by her all the time! I bet it means more treats too! I'm sure with this mug of mine I can swindle more treats, right?
The Rescue Lady wants me to talk about the worms again and the pokes I have to get. (boy she's bossy) 🙄
She says she hasn't had a heartworm positive dog in a long time, and she needs to raise funds to help pay for me to feel better. So do you think you have $5 or $10 to help pay for my special medications? The total bill will be around $1000 for the 3 injections. And I have lots of other meds in the meantime too. 😎
I really can't wait to feel better so I can find something called FAMILY! She says a family is the best thing ever, and I'm looking forward to it I think! 😉
