Federal Agency Friday: Department of Homeland Security Office of Intelligence & Analysis

This week Quantico Tactical is highlighting the Office of Intelligence & Analysis (I&A), the intelligence component of the Department of Homeland Security and a member of the United States Intelligence Community.

Unlike agencies focused primarily on foreign intelligence collection or criminal investigations, I&A's mission is to analyze, integrate, and share intel related threats facing the homeland. Their work helps ensure that federal, state, local, tribal, territorial, and private-sector partners have access to the information needed to identify and respond to threats.

Established following the creation of the Department of Homeland Security, I&A plays a critical role in connecting the Intelligence Community with the men and women on the front lines of public safety and national security.

Federal Agency Friday: United States Secret Service Counter Assault Team (USSS CAT Team)

This week Quantico Tactical is highlighting the USSS Counter Assault Team (CAT).

Established in 1979, the Counter Assault Team's mission is not to shield the protectee, that's the job of the protective detail. CAT's mission is to move directly towards the threat, engage it, and create the time and space necessary for the protectee to be evacuated.

Operating in high-risk environments around the world, CAT personnel train extensively in advanced fi****ms, small-unit tactics, CQB, vehicle operations, and protective mission support.

It has been long been said that if you see the CAT Team, you'd better get down.

Federal Agency Friday: Federal Protective Service (FPS)

Today Quantico Tactical is highlighting the mission of the U.S. Federal Protective Service (FPS).

The FPS is a federal law enforcement agency within the Department of Homeland Security responsible for protecting the federal facilities, employees, and visitors across the United States.

Established in 1790 when six "night watchmen" were hired to protect government buildings in the newly designated nation's capital that became Washington D.C. Over time the network of guards evolved and was later known as the U.S. Special Police, transferring between agencies and departments throughout the years eventually joining the Department of Homeland Security.

Key Operations:
Explosive Canine Detection Teams: Specialized K9 units conduct explosive detection searches at and around federal facilities.

Hazardous Response Team: Responds to CBRNE threats, supporting incident response, evacuations, investigations, and emergency operations.
