One pile of scrap can contain several different types of metalmand they don’t all carry the same value.

A simple place to start:

🧲 Ferrous metals contain iron and are typically magnetic.

⚙️ Non-ferrous metals like copper, brass and aluminum are generally nonmagnetic.

Knowing what you have and properly separating it can make a big difference when it’s time to sell.

Not sure what you’re looking at?

Bring it to people who know metal.

When scrap starts piling up, it becomes more than clutter.

It takes up space. Gets in the way. And becomes one more thing your team has to manage.

Excel Recycling works with industrial and manufacturing customers to create a scrap program around the way your operation actually runs.

The right containers. A pickup schedule that makes sense. Reliable swaps. Clear pricing.

You keep production moving.

We’ll handle the metal.

When we say scrap metal, we’re not talking about a few cans in a bin.

We’re talking steel. Heavy iron. Equipment. Construction scrap. Industrial material. Full loads.

Whether you’re cleaning out a jobsite, managing ongoing scrap from a facility, or hauling in serious weight, Excel Recycling is built to handle it.

Forget cleaning videos.

There’s something extremely satisfying about pulling in with a truck full of scrap and leaving with an empty bed. 😂

More space.
One less pile to deal with.
And another load recycled.

That’s a successful trip.

Here’s one simple job-site habit:

Put a dedicated scrap container next to the dumpster.

That small change makes it much easier for crews to separate recyclable metal instead of automatically tossing everything together.

Less usable material getting thrown away.
Less sorting later.
And a much easier scrap run once the container fills up.

Sometimes the best systems are the simple ones.

One of the biggest misconceptions about scrap is that every piece of metal is basically the same.

Different metals have different characteristics, uses, demand, and value.

That’s why separating materials and actually knowing what you have can matter.

That pile might look like one big collection of metal to you, but to us, there’s a lot more going on.

25 years later, we still remember the lives lost, the heroes who answered the call, and the strength shown across our country.

You pull in. You unload. You leave.

But that’s only the beginning of the process.

Once scrap metal comes through a recycling facility, materials need to be identified, separated, processed, and prepared to re-enter the manufacturing supply chain.

In other words, that pile of old metal isn’t necessarily finished being useful just because you’re finished with it.

♻️ That’s the whole point.

If you have a designated corner of your shop, garage, or property where random metal goes to live indefinitely…this post is probably for you. 😂

Old parts, leftover materials, damaged equipment, wire, fixtures, and pieces from previous jobs have a way of accumulating without anyone noticing.

Every once in a while, it’s worth taking inventory of what’s actually sitting there.

You may have more recyclable material than you realized.
