LightBox Photographic Gallery was established in June 2009 to provide a center for the promotion of creative and alternative photography on the North Coast of Oregon. LightBox provides a venue where photographic artists may exhibit their work, share their vision, and inspire other photographers and individuals. LightBox stri

ves to exhibit a diversity of photographic styles and processes, to educate in these techniques and methods, and to influence the community in the recognition of photography as fine art. LightBox encourages the continued use of film, traditional photographic methods, historical alternative processes and seeks to discover and recognize the finest works in digital photography. LightBox serves as a gathering place for photographers and individuals who appreciate fine photography. We’ve enjoyed each and every day meeting those who come into the gallery and to have experienced and shared the vision of so many unique individual artists.

North of the Arctic Circle • Kathy Radie

This incredible exhibit runs April 11 - May 6, with an opening artist’s reception in the gallery on April 11th from 4-7pm.

“Above the Arctic Circle” is a photographic exploration of a landscape where distance, weather, and time reshape our sense of scale and belonging. Drawn from years of travel across Alaska, the Canadian Yukon, and eastern Siberia, Kathy Radie’s images reflect encounters with Indigenous communities, wildlife, and vast northern wilderness where beauty and danger exist side by side. In a place that can feel both empty and overwhelming, life persists with quiet determination. These photographs invite viewers to experience the Arctic not simply as scenery, but as a powerful presence that awakens humility, wonder, and reflection.

From natural illumination and deep shadow to artificial and constructed light, consider how light reveals, obscures, directs attention, and transforms mood. Light can be a subject, a tool, or a quiet presence, shaping meaning as much as form. We celebrate work that uses light to enhance atmosphere, emotion, and visual narrative.

Paris on Film

“I explored the streets of Paris, as I’ve done many times before, but this time through the perspective of a 50mm lens on a forty plus year old Leica. Often called the ‘normal’ lens for its similarity to human vision, this focal length allowed me to act as a quiet observer, while isolating the intimate moments that define the city. I embraced a slower, more intentional process in order to catch a glimpse of the timeless character of Paris. Shooting on film allowed me to accentuate light, texture and grain, and display the full beauty of fiber gelatin prints. Please enjoy these photos and I hope you find an image that will stay with you long after you leave LightBox Photographic Gallery. “
