Has anyone ever seen one of these? This is an Eastern Hercules Beetle. One of the largest beetles found in North America! This is a male because you can see its long horn. Despite their ugly intimidating looks, they are harmless to humans! Very neat looking Beetle! 🪲

Scientists have studied a nutrient-rich substance produced by certain cockroach species, often described as “cockroach milk,” and found it contains highly concentrated proteins, fats, and sugars.

Research on the Pacific beetle cockroach (Diploptera punctata) suggests this crystalline milk-like substance is extremely calorie-dense and contains all essential amino acids, leading to claims that it is more nutrient-rich per volume than cow’s milk.

Supporters of the research say it could inspire future food science innovations, particularly in developing high-efficiency protein sources for a growing global population.

Critics emphasize that cockroach milk is not a practical or approved human food product, and more research is needed before any conclusions about its safety, scalability, or dietary value can be made.

The study remains a curiosity in nutrition science rather than a commercial or dietary recommendation.
