Yesterday afternoon South Jackson units responded to the area of Archer Grove School Road and Cane Creek Road for a skid steer that was on fire.

First arriving units found the skid steer fully involved but were able to quickly knock down the fire. No injuries reported.

TRAFFIC ALERT:

Please avoid Tallassee Road and Hwy 330 due to an overturned tractor trailer.

Tallassee Road is CLOSED. However, Hwy 330 remains open.

Yesterday evening at approximately 7pm units from South Jackson, Arcade, Jefferson, JCCI and JCEMS M-6 were dispatched to a residential fire in the 500 block of John Collier Road.

First arriving personnel found a vacant residence with heavy smoke showing. Personnel were able to rapidly make an interior attack with coordinated roof ventilation and perform a primary search to make sure no one was in the residence.

No injuries were reported and the cause is unknown at this time.

Today marks the 19th anniversary of the Charleston Super Sofa fire where 9 members of the Charleston Fire Dept. lost their lives. Today we remember their sacrifice and our thoughts and prayers are with their families and the Charleston Fire Department.

Just before 9am this morning Nicholson Area FD received a report of a smoke investigation in the 3700 block of New Kings Bridge Road.

First arriving units found a structure that was fully involved that was endangering other near by structures.

Nicholson FD immediately requested an upgraded assignment and South Jackson, Commerce, JCCI FD and Jackson County EMS Med 6 responded.

The fire was able to be quickly knocked down and kept from spreading to other near by buildings.

South Jackson units responded to the 1200 block of New Kings Bridge Road this afternoon for a track loader on fire.

First arriving units found the loader with fire coming from the engine compartment. Fire was able to be quickly extinguished and no injuries were reported.

🚧 Road Closure Notice – Savage Road Bridge

Beginning Monday, June 8, the bridge on Savage Road will be closed for repairs.

Please use the detour route shown on the attached map to safely navigate around the closure. The repair work is expected to take approximately one week, weather permitting.
