Newby’s Contracting is hiring for two positions:
• Survey/Layout Crew Chief
• Survey/Layout Assistant
Both positions are available as hourly or salary, depending on experience and qualifications.
SURVEY/LAYOUT CREW CHIEF
We are looking for an experienced Crew Chief who understands civil construction and can take ownership of project layout from start to finish.
Requirements:
• Experience with Topcon Pocket 3D GPS software
• Experience with GPS layout and machine control
• Strong understanding of civil construction plans and specifications
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, grading plans, utility plans, and site plans
• Ability to establish and verify grades, elevations, offsets, and construction layout
• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with project managers, superintendents, foremen, and equipment operators
• Trimble machine control experience is a plus
• Must be dependable, organized, and willing to work in the field
LAYOUT ASSISTANT
This can be an entry-level opportunity for someone looking to build a career in construction surveying and GPS layout.
Previous layout experience is preferred but not required. We are willing to train the right person.
Ideal Candidate:
• Has a basic understanding of civil construction and construction layout
• Can read and develop an understanding of blueprints and civil plans
• Comfortable working around heavy equipment and active construction sites
• Willing to learn GPS equipment, layout procedures, elevations, grades, and machine control
• Detail-oriented and able to follow instructions
• Dependable and willing to learn
• Interested in growing into a Crew Chief position
