❄️ Winter Storm Reminder – Please Read ❄️
We understand—we’re all New Englanders, and this isn’t our first rodeo with snow. That said, a significant winter storm is expected to arrive late Sunday into Monday with current forecasts calling for 1–2 feet of snow and “real feel” temperatures in the -20s, beginning as early as Saturday.
For everyone’s safety, we’re asking for the public’s help with a few important reminders:
• If you don’t need to travel, please stay home during the storm and for a period after it ends. This allows the Athol DPW to do what they do best, clear our roads safely and efficiently.
• The Athol Police Department does not want to tow vehicles. However, given the amount of snow forecasted, towing may become necessary if vehicles interfere with snow removal operations.
• Vehicles may be towed at any time of day if they are impeding snow removal. This is separate from and not to be confused with the overnight parking ban when vehicles are ticketed.
• We will make every reasonable effort to contact vehicle owners before a vehicle is towed. This applies to motor vehicles, trailers, campers, or any other items left on public ways.
We appreciate everyone’s cooperation and patience as we prepare for this storm.
Please stay safe, stay warm, and look out for one another. 💙❄️
