Space heaters are great for taking the chill off a room — but they also pull a serious amount of power through a single circuit, more than most people realize.

A few important reminders to keep in mind:

🔥 Plug space heaters directly into a wall outlet
🔥 Never use an extension cord or power strip
🔥 Keep them away from blankets, curtains, and furniture
🔥 Never leave them running unattended
🔥 Stop using the heater if the plug or outlet feels warm

If a breaker keeps tripping when you run a space heater, don't just keep resetting it. That's your electrical system telling you something — usually an overloaded circuit, sometimes a bigger issue underneath. It's worth having it checked out rather than working around it.

As it starts to get colder, it's worth taking a few minutes to think about the electrical systems you'll be leaning on most this winter:

Your electrical panel
Outdoor lighting
Exterior outlets
Generator or battery backup
