After months of taking care of a baby who wakes up multiple times every night and needs assistant to fall back to sleep, many moms experience disruption of their own sleep, having difficulties falling asleep and if something wakes them up during the night, they might stay awake for hours, only to wake up even more exhausted and stressed out in the morning.
If you are one of those moms, here are some tips on how to improve your sleep. And of course, prior to everything else, you need to make sure your little one is an independent sleeper and is able to stay asleep all night, so you get the chance to rest, too.

Within the first 10 months of his life, my son was able to fall asleep only while being rocked. I remember those nights when he would've wake up 5-6 times or more and I was walking back and forth in the room with him for 30 minutes until he fell asleep, only to wake up the moment I put him back in his crib then I needed to walk for another 30 minutes, then I was sitting on the sofa with him in my arms until he fell deeply asleep. I knew it wasn't the most safe decision but I was so tired and just wanted some rest. I wanted to take care of all the night wakings because I was a stay at home mom, my husband was working and I wanted him to have rest and be able to work the next day. I was sitting there, feeling so alone as if I am the only person in the world doing that at this moment. But then there were those nights when my son was waking up only 2-3 times for the night and I was able to put him back to sleep within 5 minutes so I was telling myself "see, it's not that bed, you are exaggerating". Then I had some health issues and my husband needed to take care of the night wakings for two weeks. At the end he was "there should be another way..." and he made me see I didn't need to sacrifice myself and that we all need better sleep and all the benefits that come with it. So if you need somebody today to encourage you, let me be that person. YOU DESERVE BETTER! YOU ARE STRONG AND CAPABLE! YOU CAN ACHIEVE ANYTHING! Not everybody has to sleep train their children and for some of those who wants to, may be it comes naturally to do it, but there are also some parents who struggle with the process and need somebody to keep them accountable, support them through the process, guide them, cheer them up and answer any question that arise. If you are one of those parents and the time to improve the sleep in your family has come, then I might be what you need.
