The room is about to get a lot bigger. 🌞

GrandSun started with one student, my now 90-year-old Granny.

From there, it grew into helping older adults across Atlanta with one-on-one support, scam prevention classes, tech workshops, and Technology Hours in senior living communities.

Now GrandSun is going national!

On Friday, October 23rd at 11 AM Eastern, I’ll be the guest expert for Fairway SAFE’s free webinar, Stay Safe: Protecting Your Digital Home.

We’ll talk about simple ways to protect your phone, your online accounts, and your personal information. No confusing tech talk. Just clear steps you can use right away.

Doing the work that I do, one of my favorite moments is seeing the look on an older adult’s face when they realize:

“That’s it? That’s all I had to do the whole time?”

That moment happened more than once during yesterday’s hands-on technology workshop.

We practiced downloading and finding documents, attaching and sending files, scanning documents with a phone, and sending them digitally.

The skills mattered. The confidence mattered more.

It was about giving people the opportunity to slow down, practice, ask questions, and discover that they’re more capable with technology than they may have believed.

That moment is exactly why I do this work.

Three sessions. One goal.

Help Creekside Pines Retirement Community residents feel more informed, prepared and confident when it comes to staying safe online. 🌞

We started with Awareness, moved into Protection, and yesterday completed the series with Response: What To Do If You’re Scammed.

A huge thank you to Brandi, the Creekside Pines team, and especially the residents who showed up, asked questions, shared their experiences and made this series what it was.

I’m looking forward to continuing to be a resource for the Creekside Pines community.

Today I’m heading back to Creekside Pines Retirement Community for the final session of our Staying Safe Online series.

We started with Awareness, learning how today’s scams really work.

Then we moved to Protection, with practical ways to make our devices, accounts, and personal information harder for scammers to get to.

Today is about Response.

What To Do If You’re Scammed.

Because even careful people can get caught off guard. What matters next is knowing what to do, who to contact, and how to act quickly.

I’ve really enjoyed the questions, stories, and participation from the Creekside Pines residents throughout this series.

Looking forward to bringing it all together this afternoon.

We’re back at Creekside Pines Retirement Community today for Session 2 of the Staying Safe Online series! 🌞

The Theater was filled for our first session, so today we’re moving into a larger space to make room for everyone. I couldn’t ask for a better reason to change rooms!

In Session 1, we pulled back the curtain on how today’s scams really work, including how scammers build trust, create urgency, and pressure people into making decisions.

Today, we take the next step.

Session 2: Protecting Your Devices & Personal Information

We’ll focus on practical ways to strengthen your defenses and make it extremely difficult for scammers to make you their next victim.

Looking forward to seeing everyone again this afternoon!

Yesterday, we kicked off Session 1 of the Staying Safe Online series at Creekside Pines Retirement Community.

One of my favorite moments happened before the presentation even began. Residents were already talking with each other about scam calls, suspicious text messages, and emails they had received. It was a reminder that these conversations are happening every day, and having a place to learn together really matters.

During our first session, How Scams Really Work Today, we talked about the tactics scammers use to create urgency, build trust, and convince good people to make bad decisions. We also introduced the Three Golden Rules that provide a simple framework whenever something doesn't feel quite right.

Thank you to Brandi and the entire Creekside Pines team for making resident education a priority. I appreciate the warm welcome and I'm looking forward to seeing everyone again on August 12 for Session 2.

Scam calls. Fake text messages. Emails that look legitimate.

Unfortunately, these have become part of everyday life, especially for older adults.

Tomorrow I'll be at Creekside Pines Retirement Community leading the first session of our Staying Safe Online series.

In this first session, we'll pull back the curtain on how today's scams really work, the tactics scammers use to create urgency and trust, and why anyone can become a target.

My goal isn't to make technology more complicated. It's to help seniors feel more confident, connected, and protected with technology.
