Friday, we will wear red to shine a light on heart disease which is the leading cause of death for women in the United States. But heart disease doesn’t just affect women. It impacts babies, families, and millions of Americans every single day.
Congenital heart defects remain the #1 birth defect, affecting thousands of newborns each year. Many of these tiny fighters face open-heart surgery before they ever leave the hospital. At the same time, heart disease in adults is often silent, overlooked, or misunderstood - especially in women, whose symptoms can look very different than men’s.
National Wear Red Day is about awareness, education, and action:
• Know your numbers
• Pay attention to symptoms
• Advocate for yourself and your loved ones
• Support research and early detection
Today is your reminder to plan to wear RED on Friday, and that heart health matters at every stage of life. Wear red, start the conversation, and help spread awareness—because protecting hearts protects families. ❤️
