Although 4 years have come and gone, (WHAT?!) many are still riding the struggle bus when it comes to meeting virtually.

Whether it’s a concern due to a 1st time meeting with a prospect who has their camera off, (which, by the way, just creates the narrative that whatever they are doing that you can’t see is more important and valued than your time-NOT a good look) or someone showing up virtually looking as though they just rolled out of bed, or appearing unprofessional, period.

Time to revisit your virtual meeting habits!

☀️What is your background like? Is it neat, clean, and clear?

💡Are you lit properly, or do you look like a vampire 🧛‍♀️ in a cave?

😊Are you approachable? Open and willing to be empathic and vulnerable?

👚Did you dress for the day?

⏰ Are you on time? (Arriving to a meeting room at least 3 minutes early is never a bad idea!)

These are just a few of the things to be aware of!

We no longer have to wear a 3 piece suit or a silk blouse and heels to work, as the “Mad Men” days are long gone and outdated.

However… I wouldn’t recommend wearing a shabby concert t-shirt either! Not even if you are meeting with a music exec! (Well, maybe then it’s ok, but…😎)

Now, finding a happy medium is certainly recommended. A clean, crisp t-shirt, button down or polo, or even a simple sweater is great!

First impressions can be hard to break. Here’s a brief reminder about why it’s still so important to dress up to show up!

Are you struggling to navigate being your authentic self when meeting virtually, AND in-person again?

Here we find ourselves, juggling both virtual and in person relationship building skills in every profession from to to to students.

Sellers are meeting prospects and new customers virtually, Attorneys are conducting virtual depositions, and Medical Professionals are treating patients via telemedicine. All of these are times when we MUST be Human Beings being human.

Some of us are still figuring out exactly how to feel a connection to a face on a screen, while others are riding the struggle bus in regard to coming back into the office or meeting space in person after being home or isolated for so long.

I am here to tell you, you've got this and it can be done. Period. By changing the way you look at things, and taking a moment to breathe and look from the outside in.

Take a moment to take stock of your levels in the current moment, know that you are not alone, and that there are fabulous resources out there to help you along the way.

As we all ride the continuous waves of change in both our business and personal worlds, I do believe that we are coming to a smooth sense of calm. The waves no longer seem quite as rough as they did in the beginning, but more soft and consistent.

However, that's not to say that there won't be rough waters ahead at some point. That is how life goes... We just need to learn to surf. 🏄‍♀️🏄🏾‍♀️🏄‍♂️🏄🏿‍♂️🏄🏾‍♀️

Just a reminder here to keep the waves gently rolling in and out.
