The U.S. Department of Labor is currently hiring! However, applying for a federal job is different than applying for a private sector job. Learn how to effectively compete/apply for a federal job.

Are you interested in a FREE workshop on How to Apply for Federal Jobs? Learn who gets referred to a selecting official for consideration, and why. If you are submitting one resume for different jobs, learn how to effectively compete for federal jobs from a seasoned Human Resources Specialist with years of experience qualifying and disqualifying applicants.

Learn about the different hiring authorities available to veterans and individuals with disabilities.

The workshop is approximately one hour and a half hours long.

The workshop is free, courtesy of the Division of Workforce Development and Inclusion in the US Department of Labor.

This comprehensive program is designed for small business owners, current and aspiring Selden Market businesses as well as pop-ups, side hustles, and student entrepreneurs looking to improve their funding, marketing, and growth strategies. Aspiring business owners are welcome as well.

In this eight-week program, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in interactive workshops on funding your business, what all small businesses really need, marketing strategy, capital investors & growth strategies, simple business planning, pitching versus closing, financial projections, and raising capital. Participants will also receive 1-on-1 consulting mentorship and established small businesses that complete this 8-week series receive first consideration for a Selden Market storefront.

In addition to the core workshops, there will also be supplemental workshops and events focused on creditworthiness, cash flow and budgeting, and launching side-hustles, lifestyle businesses, and popup vendor events.

This is a great opportunity for small business owners to connect with like-minded individuals, gain valuable insights, and take their business to the next level."

This in-person program will start Monday, February 6 at 9 a.m. and will take place weekly at the NSU Innovation Center in downtown Norfolk.
