Celebrating the remarkable life and legacy of Ida B Wells-Barnett!

Ida B. Wells-Barnett was a brave journalist, activist, and researcher who fought against racism and violence in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. She used her powerful writing skills to show the world the struggles faced by Black people.

Born into slavery during the Civil War, Wells-Barnett's parents taught her the value of education. Despite facing challenges, she became a teacher and cared for her siblings after her parents died.

She didn't stop there! Wells-Barnett fought against unfair treatment on trains and investigated cases of lynching. Her writings brought attention to these injustices and inspired change.

On her birthday, let's honor Ida B. Wells-Barnett. In the comments below, please share your thoughts, stories, or anything that shows how her work continues to help and inspire Black people!

Happy birthday, Ida B. Wells-Barnett!

Generational trauma is a deep-rooted emotional burden passed down from one generation to another, and for Black people, this trauma dates back to the dark days of slavery and its aftermath. From Jim Crow laws to ongoing systemic racism, the impact of these experiences can still be felt today.

This trauma affects us on multiple levels, from mental and physical health to relationships and overall well-being. Anxiety, depression, PTSD, and chronic illnesses can directly result from generational trauma.

But there is hope!

Join us in the journey of understanding and creating an inclusive community of color. We prioritize addressing colorism, s*xism, homophobia, and transphobia within our own community.

This is how we can build a space where everyone feels at home:

Experience Healing and Empowerment: let's challenge internalized white supremacy and cultivate self-love, identity, and community. Through affirmation, celebration, and validation, we create an environment that fuels our growth and enables us to thrive.

Embrace Continuous Learning: Being BIPOC doesn't mean we have all the answers. We need time and space to navigate white supremacy culture, address internal biases, and learn from one another.

Amplify Our Collective Voice: By establishing a community of color, we can collectively express our needs, strategies, and solutions, advocating for organizational shifts that promote equity and inclusion. Together, we hold the power to make a difference.

Become part of the movement. Join CBV and thrive in unity.

Today, we celebrate a monumental milestone in the Black History

The Civil Rights Act of July 2, 1964

This groundbreaking legislation marked a turning point in the fight against racial discrimination and inequality in the United States. It outlawed segregation and discrimination based on race, color, religion, s*x, or national origin.

Today, we remember the courageous individuals who led the civil rights movement, fighting for justice, equality, and freedom. Their unwavering dedication and peaceful protests paved the way for a more inclusive society, inspiring future generations.

As we honor the Civil Rights Act of 1964, let us reaffirm our commitment to creating a society that upholds the principles of fairness, unity, and compassion. By standing together, we can positively impact and foster a future where everyone can thrive, regardless of their background or identity.
