There's a 1% rule killing SBA applications right now. ⚠️

As of March 1, 2026 — SBA loans require 100% US citizen ownership. Even 1% non-citizen ownership disqualifies the entire application.

This hits:
→ Green card holders / lawful permanent residents — disqualified
→ Holding companies with non-citizen partners — disqualified
→ Trusts with non-citizen beneficiaries — disqualified
→ Indirect ownership counts too

Forward-looking: Sen. Markey introduced the Investing in the American Dream Act last month to reverse it. Bill might pass. Bill might not. Either way — right now is when restructuring matters.

History rhyme: last time the feds layered new ownership disclosure rules was post-9/11 with the Patriot Act + OFAC compliance. Operators who restructured fast won. Slow movers got locked out of capital for years.
