Stories that are mine, and stories that belong to others. There are so many ways to communicate, and I’m infatuated with them all. I love learni

ng about people — I love finding out what makes you laugh, what makes you cry, what makes you collapse, what lifts you up. I began writing my stories early, keeping physical and digital diaries and journals for years before moving into print journalism and online publishing, where I have lived for over a decade. I bring a lot to the table: an insatiable interest in getting to the heart of who you are and what you do, the ability to really see someone as they are, and the capacity to make sure others see you, too. Storytelling — really getting to the essence of what you are on this planet to do and communicating that to others — is more than a few attractive blocks on an app’s grid or a couple of videos. I have been so, so lucky that the internet has led me to such incredible people -- I have so many wonderful friends because of relationships that began online. Lucy is one of those friends, and it was a genuine treat to scoot over to Atlanta to shoot maternity photos with her and her husband, Bryan. I can't WAIT to meet the sweet baby these two are going to have the fortune of raising.

Hey everyone! I wanted to tell all of you about an amazing initiative my sweet friend Tessa and her husband Marc are kicking off: SheLove ♥️ Haiti Initiative, and to let you know how YOU can be part of it just by having your photo taken!

Here's what's up: Tessa is the powerhouse behind Where The Wild Garden Grows, where she provides women and girls with emotional, mental, and physical support in so many ways. As part of that, she sells handmade reusable cloth pads and offers workshops and educational opportunities on menstruation. Marc is from Port-de-Paix, Haiti. They are combining their love for Haiti and the incredible wealth of knowledge Tessa has and will begin providing sanitary reusable menstruation kits to young girls in Haiti beginning in Spring 2020. The kits will be made locally in Haiti, and the initiative will create job opportunities and feed the local economy.

Tessa and Marc are garnering support a few different ways. They will be selling BEAUTIFUL handcrafted wooden furniture on Facebook at SheLove ♥️ Haiti Initiative (all furniture is made by Tessa's brother! The photos are all examples of work he has made and that will be avialable), and will also be accepting monetary donations from those who want to support (I'll definitely provide that information). I am so passionate about this program that I reached out and asked if I could donate a portion of my proceeds to it as well -- so 10% of each photo session and wedding I shoot will be going straight to SheLove. I plan to keep this donation going indefinitely.

I know this post is long, but I wanted to get the word out about this amazing, amazing program these two are starting. Be the change, fam!

Last night's shoot with was SO gorgeous and so much fun, even when I accidentally fell knee-deep into the bog of eternal stench. I can't wait to start editing these! Magic happens when women work together. ✨

WOMAN RISING: DANA

You guys! I am so excited to announce a new series I am working on, and will be opening up to anyone who is interested soon (after I get a few more shoots under my belt) My WONDERFUL friend Dana asked me if I would take a few photos of her to a document her *right now*, in a time of immense change and personal growth, and I was completely infatuated with the idea. I love the idea of working with women (ALL women -- all female-identified people) one-on-one, talking about the challenges they're facing and the hope they have, and shooting a few photos in a way that draws all of that out and evokes... feeling. I am definitely looking forward to adding to this series soon.
