Stepping into a leadership role is an exciting milestone—but it also comes with new expectations, especially in interviews. You’re not just showcasing your skills anymore, you’re proving your potential to lead.

Here are 5 key things to remember when interviewing for your first supervisor or team lead role:

1️⃣ Think “We,” Not “Me”
Shift your language from individual achievements to team wins. Highlight how you supported others, not just what you delivered.

2️⃣ Show Leadership Without the Title
Don’t wait for a formal promotion to demonstrate leadership. Talk about times you mentored peers, led projects, or stepped up during challenges.

3️⃣ Own the Hard Conversations
Supervisors deal with tough feedback and conflict. Be ready to share an example of how you handled a difficult conversation with empathy and clarity.

4️⃣ Understand What Motivates Others
It’s not just about task completion—it’s about bringing out the best in people. Show that you understand how to support, motivate, and grow your team.

5️⃣ Balance Confidence with Humility
