The grant went straight to the people—covering BWII Sisterhood Conference registration for early-career professionals and college students who are just getting their start in insurance. That means fewer barriers, more seats at the table, and more young Black women able to walk into rooms, build connections, and see what’s possible for themselves.

We’re continuing our “Meet The Sisterhood Keepers” series — spotlighting the women whose leadership, lived experience, and excellence are shaping the 2026 Black Women of the Insurance Industry Sisterhood Conference.

Today, we’re proud to introduce LaShon Harris, a strategist, veteran, and purpose-driven leader whose ability to connect people and tell powerful stories makes her an essential part of the Sisterhood.

LaShon leads the Marketing Sub-Committee for BWII 2026, where she helps shape how the conference shows up, sounds, and feels. From messaging and positioning to ensuring our storytelling reflects the real experiences of Black women in insurance, LaShon is instrumental in making sure the Insure. Heal. Build. message lands with authenticity and impact.

Professionally, LaShon is an Operations Strategist and Medical Case Manager with more than a decade of experience in claims, investigations, medical care assessments, settlement negotiations, and financial loss mitigation. She is known for her ability to balance compassion with accountability — driving strong outcomes while keeping people at the center of the work. Her leadership has contributed to significant cost savings, operational efficiency, and improved outcomes across complex claims environments.

LaShon is also a Registered Nurse and a proud U.S. Air Force Veteran, bringing discipline, service, and resilience into every role she holds. Her background in healthcare, operations, and fiscal management gives her a unique lens — one that blends strategy with empathy and makes her voice especially powerful in shaping how Sisterhood is presented to the world.

Professionally, Ruth is the Senior Manager of Talent Outreach & Strategic Partnerships at WSIA, where she builds intentional pipelines connecting the insurance industry to students, HBCUs, community colleges, and military veterans. She brings over 25 years of leadership experience from CNA Insurance, with deep expertise in vendor management, operations, and cross-functional collaboration.

Today, we proudly introduce Sherita Hardy, Chair of the BWII 2026 Finance Subcommittee. Sherita leads fundraising and financial stewardship to ensure every dollar aligns with our Insure. Heal. Build. mission and that Sisterhood grows with intention and integrity.

Professionally, Sherita is a Vice President of Relationship Development at Amwins with over 28 years in the insurance industry. She also serves as a liaison for Amwins’ National Diversity & Inclusion Council, is a graduate and Steering Committee leader of Amwins’ Women’s Leadership Program, and continues to pour into the next generation of leaders.

We’re continuing our “Meet The Sisterhood Keepers” series — spotlighting the powerhouse women shaping the 2026 Black Women of the Insurance Industry Sisterhood Conference.

Today, we’re honored to introduce Katharine (Kathie) Collins, a woman whose wisdom, presence, and unwavering commitment to justice bring depth and excellence to everything she touches.

Kathie serves on our Speaker Management Subcommittee, where her strategic thinking, keen attention to detail, and gift for elevating voices ensure every speaker is aligned, prepared, and positioned to pour into the . From curating talent to supporting session flow, Kathie helps guarantee that what happens on stage reflects the heart of .

Professionally, Kathie is a strategic litigator, mentor, and change agent, committed to representation, equity, and truth. She has spent her career defending employers in workers’ compensation matters across Missouri and Kansas, always seeking innovative pathways to protect the interests of her clients with fairness and advocacy at the center.

A proud Thurgood Marshall Scholar, Kathie earned her J.D. from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law, where she was recognized on the Dean’s List and honored as a Top Ten Oralist. She also holds a B.A. in History/Government from Northwest Missouri State University, where she won the Minority Leadership Award and emerged as a standout scholar.

In service to her community, Kathie serves as Vice President of the NAAIA - Greater Kansas City Chapter and is an active member of both the Kansas Bar Association and the The Missouri Bar. Her work reflects the kind of leadership rooted in integrity, advocacy, and intentional mentorship — the same values she pours into Sisterhood.
