I found the BEST pale ale in Finland.
But that wasn’t my favorite part of the day.
While we were in Helsinki, Sharon, Johnny and I took a trip out to Suomenlinna, the beautiful island fortress just off the coast.
We got ridiculously lucky with the weather, so we spent the day wandering around and exploring.
One of the highlights was climbing inside an old submarine with Johnny.
I loved watching what caught his attention, giving him some of the history, and hearing what HE thought about everything he was seeing.
Those are the moments I love about traveling with him.
And then, of course, there was the b**r 😄
I don’t drink much anymore, but I do love a good craft b**r, and there’s a brewery right there on the island that makes its own.
I brought two cans home and poured one for a good friend here in Salt Lake.
His verdict?
Hands down the best pale ale he’d ever had.
It is very good. It starts beautifully hoppy without becoming bitter and sticky at the end.
So, congratulations Finland. You impressed my kid, gave us an absolutely gorgeous family day AND delivered one heck of a pale ale.
It was one of those days that reminded me why I love traveling with Sharon and Johnny so much.
Thank you, Finland. We had a VERY good time.
