When you ask a teen what a healthy relationship looks like, they may spill the tea. Real talk, no filter. So we handed them the mic. 🎤

My Goals, My Life is a PSA campaign "for teens, by teens" developed in partnership with Georgia Division of Family & Children Services and co-created with middle and high school students.

From production to promotion, we used a peer norms approach to amplify youth voices around making healthy, informed decisions and modeling those behaviors.

The primary audience comprised students in two federally-funded school programs with unique health curricula. A healthy relationships lens allowed us to support both program goals around adolescent pregnancy prevention, with greater inclusivity, while addressing interrelated topics—like stopping teen dating violence before it starts.

We believe creating change for good happens through connecting and showing up to listen, especially with the communities our work touches. Audience understanding is what turns a video into a conversation that keeps going, with impact that’s measurable and meaningful.

September is National Su***de Prevention Month, a reminder that we all play a role in supporting mental health, especially for young people.

For teens, this support can be as simple as a trusted adult, like a coach, checking in, listening, and knowing where to send them for help.

What if these types of social connections were the norm everywhere, especially for youth with less access to services?

The Confess Project trains barbers, stylists, and community members to become mental health allies, equipping them with skills to listen, recognize distress, and connect people with help.

Banyan partnered with Georgia DFCS to tell the story of The Confess Project in Georgia, drawing on evidence and experience showing barbershops are unique spaces where these conversations naturally happen.

Going beyond a program spotlight, our team aimed to uplift insights and actions from barbers that anyone can apply to better engage youth around mental health in their community.

The resulting promotional video furthered the state’s youth help-seeking promotions to encourage referrals to the Georgia Crisis & Access Line (GCAL): 1-800-715-4225.

Effective public health messages meet people where they are, mentally and environmentally, including their own backyard.

🐔 Take chicken coops, for example.

Keeping backyard flocks has taken off in recent years, along with cases of illness linked to unsanitary coops.

That’s where Banyan came in. CDC's Division of Foodborne, Waterborne, and Environmental Diseases asked us to help educate novice owners on sanitation and disease-prevention habits that keep both human and bird families healthy.

We brought campaign development, video production, and digital outreach together to answer a question: What if we make keeping backyard coops clean seem like fun? 🐣

The result is CDC Coops, a PSA series borrowing inspiration from the 1990s "MTV Cribs.” Each video takes viewers inside real coops while modeling evidence-based prevention behaviors.

This campaign led to thousands of views among flock owners, a CDC Director’s Award, and two Telly Awards, showing how engagement happens when science, strategy, and creativity take flight.

What changes when young people know they're not alone and feel safe asking for help?

Sources of Strength is an evidence-based youth su***de prevention and mental health program built on that idea. Together with the CDC, we captured this school-based program in action in Denver to help promote prevention strategies that work.

The core idea: spend more time talking about strengths, not crises. That means helping young people recognize supportive peers and trusted adults already around them and know that help exists and is worth reaching for.

Public health outreach means meeting people where they are, making help feel real and reachable, and moving them toward it. That's the standard we bring to every project.

Getting the story right -- the kind that moves people toward connection and help-seeking, not just awareness -- matters to us and our work.

Watch the video, then let's talk.
