"We are fools to make war, on our Brothers in Arms." -Mark Knopfler

Brothers in Arms is my favorite song, and the title track, of one of my all-time favorite albums shown here: Brothers In Arms by Dire Straits. It is about war, and right now the gravity of its lyrics mean more than ever to me.

The song very much echoes the profound sense of sadness I feel right now over us seemingly having lost sight of us being Brothers in Arms - against a sentient enemy - in favor of making each other into the enemy.

Please keep in mind that the similarities and concerns we share are far greater than those that divide us, y'all. Please look for things to love in each other rather than things to hate.

A few weeks ago Julia and I went camping with some friends up in the North Georgia mountains, and I took this shot of the road leading out to the campsite as we were headed back home. Glad I did, because I now worry that it may not look this pretty again for a long time due to the wildfires going on in the area. Pray for Mother Nature to send that area some rain people. Lots of it.

A couple weeks ago Julia and I were headed to a housewarming party that one of her friends from church - JLynn - was having. On the way there, we rode by this place. It didn't take me long to ask Julia to turn around for me to capture a shot of it. And yes, her friends new house was in the very same "hood" I captured this shot in. Her friend is a single white girl - hardly the type you would expect to be buying a house in that area. And she's an engineer. She could afford to buy a nicer place in a nicer "hood" if she wanted to, but she didn't. Why? Because she wanted to minister - to show love - to the people in that neighborhood. That - ladies and gentlemen - is what going out and being the church is all about. Hats off to her for

Science Mike taking his first question tonight for the live recording of his podcast: Ask Science Mike.

It's definitely worth checking out if you're one of those people that struggles with finding a middle ground between science and faith, as is his newly released book, "Finding God In The Waves." Both include scientific jibber-jabber that goes right over my head on the regular.

But they also both include gems - or butterfly's - like this that are more easily understood: "We can approach beliefs not as gems to be mined from the earth and protected with clenched fist, but as butter-flies that land on an open hand - as gifts to enjoy but not possess."

Last night Julia and I went to our favorite local sushi joint, and this is our favorite sushi chef there - CJ -campaigning. No, it's not my intent to endorse any candidate by sharing this, and I'd share this shot if he were holding an anti Trump sign, too. He had a few of them made and on hand to share with people. Another one I got a shot of him with simply said, "Ask me how to vote." I have a feeling he'd have nothing good to say about Hillary if you were to. According to a friend of mine, C.J. is an absolute wiz when it comes to world religions - and isn't afraid to be very candid with you about how he feels about some of those, too.

One of Dale Chihuly's works on display at Atlanta Botanical Garden right now. I think this one was my favorite there due to how it looked when you look up into it while directly below - which is the perspective I took this from.
