Carapace for April: Sinners / 99 Problems is tomorrow night! Plus, a few more. things... - https://mailchi.mp/c85f5d971f4a/sinners-8338625
In honor of the Oscars, we're going with Sinners as this month's theme. So. Many. Juicy. Thoughts. A million ways to take it.
Did you indulge in one of the seven deadlies? Did you get judged by a supposedly holier-than-thou?
Perhaps you thought you should be ashamed of something all your life but came out the other side, vindicated. Take us to the moment when you discovered you didn't get hairy palms, when you let your anger get the best of you, when you found Father McAllister drunk on the communion wine, when you failed the Blue Book exam on Dante's Inferno, or when your lust for life turned into a death wish.
Our original prompt for this month's theme was 99 Problems. Folx seemed to be a bit befuddled by it, so we added in Sinners as maybe a bit broader and easier to run with. Here's more on the theme of 99 Problems...
Ever find yourself up to your eyeballs? In hot water? Running around like a chicken with your head cut off? We wanna hear about the time it seemed you just couldn't catch a break, when you wished Calgon would just take you away. And maybe in the midst of it all, you found a whole new perspective...
Whatever your story, weâll be piously waiting, as always, on the second Tuesdays of the month at Manuelâs Tavern. While the show begins at 7p, we encourage folx to get there early and get their orders in with the finest wait staff in town.
As a reminder, we welcome story listeners and storytellers alikeâjust as long as youâre a connoisseur of stories (and of Manuelâs food).
Notes for a squeaky clean story experienceâŠ
*no notes
*no political rants
*no stand-up comedy
*no hate speech
This is OG storytelling, like our ancestors used to do around the fire.
SURVEY:
We experimented last month with providing live streaming Carapace because some of our regulars were under the weather. What are your thoughts? Is it something we should consider continuing? Take our survey here: https://us9.list-manage.com/survey?u=44e3263d6dd5106d0458b31a9&id=a5b9315af0
THE SONGS THAT SHAPED US:
On Tuesday, April 28, âs Attic, many of your favorite Carapace storytellers, Chetter Galloway, Samuel Frankel, and Shannon Turner, will be featured at Atlanta Storytellers, âThe Songs That Shaped Us.â Each storyteller ties their story to a song, and then a live band plays that song in between the stories. A benefit for Atlanta, we hear tickets are nearly sold out, so make sure to get yours soon.
