What is your writing process? Have you been staring at a blank page for hours? Here are some quick tips to create a writing process for book and publication writing:✒️ 1.Pre-Write: Identify your idea/topic. Build on your idea with freewriting. CREATE A DETAILED OUTLINE.. ✒️ 2.Research: Review publications, books, or blog posts that are similar to your idea. The point is NOT to copy but to understand how others have presented like-ideas. If writing a research-based project, identify sources that will support specific ideas you wish to express.✒️ 3.Write/Drafting: Synthesize and present your ideas and outside research to support your overall objective. Is there a particular environment that allows you to write with ease? GO TO IT. Just write. DO NOT EDIT. ✒️ 4.Revise: Make your ideas bold. Add, rearrange, delete, or replace content as necessary. Is more research needed?✒️ 5.Edit: Edit your work in stages. Stage 1: Developmental edits (support of ideas/structure of argument/organization of paper). Stage 2: Line edits (grammar, word choice, syntax, tone). Stage 3: Proofreading (spelling, tense shifts, homophones, publisher specific formatting.). Would a second editor be a worthwhile investment? ✒️6.Publishing: If self-publishing, what platform will you use? If publishing with a company you want to ensure that you know the process for that company. For books it may be wise to investigate book marketing techniques/companies to ensure your message reaches your audience.
