Great organizations don't just succeed in their communities—they invest in them!

Last week, my colleague Kristen Hannam and I had the privilege of representing Restore OKC at the Oklahoma City Thunder Community Breakfast.

It was inspiring to hear more about the Thunder organization's intentional commitment to building meaningful partnerships that strengthen communities throughout Oklahoma. Their impact clearly extends far beyond the basketball court!

Jennifer Watson and Erin Oldfield did an outstanding job leading a great meeting, highlighting the Thunder's commitment to community engagement, collaboration, and lasting impact.

One of the highlights for me was reconnecting with Erin, Vice President of Community Engagement and Executive Director of the Thunder Community Foundation, and a fellow member of my OKC Connect class.

As Director of Employment at RestoreOKC, I'm especially encouraged by organizations that recognize the power of collaboration and the importance of investing in people.

Grateful for the opportunity to represent RestoreOKC, strengthen relationships, and continue being part of the positive momentum happening in the city that raised me!

Last Thursday's Leadership OKC Public Safety Day was an incredible experience with my Signature Class #44 colleagues. But the highlight came at the end of the day when two remarkable leaders, Oklahoma City Fire Chief Derrick Kiel, our fellow Class #44 member, and Oklahoma City Police Chief Ron C. Bacy, sat down together and shared their personal journeys.

Hearing these men speak candidly about the challenges they faced growing up, the obstacles they overcame, and how neither ever imagined leading their respective departments was both powerful and inspiring.

Think about that. Two men who never envisioned themselves in these positions are now helping shape the future of public safety in Oklahoma City.

And we're witnessing history! Chief Kiel is the first Black Fire Chief in Oklahoma City's history. What a significant milestone for our city and an inspiring example of what's possible for the next generation.

Their stories reminded me that where you start in life does not have to determine where you finish. Leadership is often developed through adversity, perseverance, service, and opportunities we never saw coming.

As someone born and raised on the east side of Oklahoma City, moments like these are deeply personal.

Just another reason I'm proud of the city that raised me!

I’m honored to share that I have accepted the role of Director of Employment at RestoreOKC.
Of all the opportunities I’ve had throughout my career, this is one of the most meaningful.

For the past decade, RestoreOKC has been deeply invested in Northeast Oklahoma City—the community where I was born and raised—working alongside residents to create lasting change and strengthen our community. Now, I have the privilege of being part of that work.

I’m especially honored to serve alongside RestoreOKC co-founder, Executive Director, my friend, , and an incredible team committed to the people and potential of NE Oklahoma City.

This role brings together so much of my journey—corporate leadership, ministry, entrepreneurship, workforce development, relationship building, and most importantly, my love for this community.
I left Oklahoma City many years ago, gained experiences that shaped me professionally and personally, and eventually returned home with a desire to invest in the city that raised me.
This opportunity feels like another chapter in that full-circle journey.

And the timing couldn’t be more meaningful: RestoreOKC is celebrating 10 years of impact!

One of the amazing things I get to do through my consulting company is teach Career Exploration at Milllwood High School. As a part of the course I help students identify their workplace style and prepare for professional life outside of school. This also includes exposing them to entrepreneurs and corporate leaders from our community.

It was another beautiful day in the "A". It's been almost 2 years ago when our friend Faith Jessie gave us a tour of the 11Alive News studio. We are loving being back in the city that raised us (OKC) but also relish the memories of living in Atlanta.

Recently, I had the opportunity to grab coffee with Daniel Haynes CEO of Skyward Financial Services and Co-Founder of Live Full. Conversations like this remind me why I'm so grateful to be back in Oklahoma City.

As I recently celebrated one year since returning to the city that raised me, I'm continually impressed by the leaders I'm meeting—people who lead with both exceptional competence and genuine compassion.

Thank you, Daniel, for your time, your insights, and your heart for serving our community. I'm encouraged by the work you're doing and excited about the future of Oklahoma City.

The city that raised me continues to inspire me every day.
