I recently had the opportunity to meet with , Founder & CEO of Urban Bridge on OKC, and tour their incredible facility located just about a mile from the house I was raised in. We also discussed ways the OKC Black Chamber could support him and his staff.

Urban Bridge is doing impactful work by investing in middle and high school students and helping shape the future of our city through mentorship, development, and opportunity.

I’m grateful to Mr. .coleman for making the connection. Encounters like this are just one more reason I’m proud of the city that raised me — Oklahoma City continues to be filled with people and organizations committed to making a real difference.

"Trojans in da park" May 16th 2026.
Proud to be c/o '83

It's hard to explain what it means to be a graduate of a Frederick Douglass High School in Oklahoma City, OK, as we celebrate 135 years of existence. We also celebrate our current Principal Mr. Kevin Jones who was just awarded OKC Public Schools Secondary Principal of the Year!

A few more reasons why I'm so proud to be back in the city that raised me.

Great conversation and great coffee.

Friday I had the opportunity to connect with two movers in our community— and Mr. . Conversations like this remind me that Oklahoma City is not just growing… it’s evolving with intention.

When you sit at the table with people who are building, thinking, and pushing the city forward, you can feel the momentum. Ideas turn into action. Vision turns into opportunity.

I’ll say this clearly: now is the time to invest in OKC.
The people are here. The energy is here. The movement is already in motion.

And if you’re not paying attention… you might look up soon and realize the price of entry has gone way up.

Let’s build. Let’s connect. Let’s make it happen—together.

Last Thursday reminded me why purpose matters.

I started the morning at for the Black Male Summit, where poured into young men about vision—seeing beyond your current circumstances and having the discipline to pursue something greater. It wasn’t just talk… it was real, lived experience.

Later, I made my way to Emerson North High School, where I serve as an Educator for the program. And there he was again—this time showing up in a different way. Through his work, he spoke to students about gun violence, conflict resolution, and making better decisions in critical moments.

Same messenger. Different rooms. Consistent mission.

I’m continually inspired as I reconnect with the city that raised me. There are people on the ground every day doing the work—investing in our youth, changing narratives, and creating real impact.

Oklahoma City… we’ve got something special. And I’m grateful to be a part of it.

Last Friday, I had the honor of attending the Community Coffee Chat as a board member of the — and it was a powerful reminder of what true community partnership looks like.

It was also my first time visiting Loud City Headquarters, a spot fans should check out.

A special thank you to and for an outstanding presentation. You both did an excellent job representing the Thunder and sharing how the organization continues to invest in and uplift our community.

I also had the pleasure of connecting with Chris Sackett of WEOKIE Federal Credit Union — always great to meet leaders who are making a real impact across Oklahoma City. Thanks to my man for another connection!

And then… just yesterday, our city celebrated our first playoff victory of this season — a moment of excitement and unity — on the 31st anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing.

That contrast is powerful.

It reminds us that while we honor the past and those we lost, we also celebrate the resilience, growth, and spirit of this city we call home.

We have a lot to be proud of.

Partnerships like the and the are more than collaborations — they are catalysts for connection, opportunity, and impact.

Oklahoma City continues to rise — together.

Last Saturday, I had the opportunity to attend a powerful Listening Session for the Creston Park housing development at RestoreOKC—and it was more than just a meeting… it was a model for what true community engagement should look like.

My friend Jonathan Veal, , along with Quinton Huges, opened the session with purpose and clarity, setting the tone for an intentional and inclusive dialogue.

The co-founders of Open Design Collective—the first and only Black women-led architectural firm—led an incredibly interactive experience. Vanessa Morrison (Urban Planner & Co-Founder/CEO) and Debra Richards (Architect & Urban Designer) guided the session with excellence and intention.

What stood out most was their approach—they didn’t just ask for feedback, they created space for people to be heard. Through creative, hands-on methods, residents and stakeholders were able to share real perspectives about the needs, hopes, and vision for their community.

This is what it looks like when development is done with the community, not just for the community.

As someone passionate about leadership, connection, and community impact, it was inspiring to witness a process rooted in listening, collaboration, and respect.

Oklahoma City continues to remind me why I’m grateful to be back home.

Eight months ago, I made the return home to Oklahoma City after 11 incredible years in Atlanta—I wasn't completely sure what was in store but each day the Lord continues to reveal to me why.

There’s something powerful about coming back to the city that raised you… and rediscovering it through fresh eyes, new relationships, and meaningful work.
What’s been most impactful is the people.
Recently, I had the opportunity to connect with Derrick Sier and Harold Lee, Jr. —two men who are doing incredible work pouring into the lives of young people right here in OKC. Their passion, commitment, and consistency in showing up for our youth is not only inspiring—it’s necessary.

These are the kinds of conversations and connections that remind me why I’m here. There is real work to be done, and even greater opportunity when the right people come together with a shared purpose.

Oklahoma City is full of leaders, builders, and difference-makers—and I’m grateful to be back, reconnecting and contributing.
Let’s keep building.

March’s OKC Connect meeting, held at OKC Innovation District, was a powerful reminder of why collaboration is the heartbeat of our city’s growth. I had the privilege of attending the panel discussion on NE Oklahoma City Growth, Investment, and Opportunity, moderated by Quintin Hughes with insightful perspectives from Sandino Thompson, Kimberly Statum Francisco, M.Ed., and Councilman .

Their conversation shed light on how intentional investment and partnership can transform communities and unlock new pathways for sustainable progress across NE OKC. Especially as we prepare for the .

I also had the chance to connect with my new friend and OKC Connect colleague Ashley McCormick —we had a great discussion about launching my Men’s Wardrobe & Style Consulting arm of my business right here in Oklahoma. You can check out my website jonathanmhall.com for more info.

Exciting opportunities ahead as we continue building locally and empowering professionals to look and lead with confidence.

Grateful for spaces like OKC Connect where vision, community, and opportunity truly intersect.
