Be honest…

Are you running your business off 4 spreadsheets and a gut feeling? 😅

One spreadsheet for revenue.

One for expenses.

One for cash flow.

And another one because somehow the first three still didn’t answer your question.

The problem usually isn’t that you need MORE numbers.

It’s that you need to know:

👉 Which numbers actually matter
👉 What they’re telling you
👉 What you should do about them

Because revenue can look great while cash feels tight.

Your bank balance can look healthy while your profit tells a different story.

And being busy doesn’t always mean your business is on track.

You need clarity, not more clutter.

And remember that thing I’ve been teasing?

👀 The reveal is Friday.

You’re going to want to see this one.

Have each contractor complete Form W-9 so you have important details such as:

- Legal name or business name
- Federal tax classification
- Address
- Taxpayer Identification Number, such as an SSN or EIN

You’ll also want accurate records of how much you paid each contractor throughout the year so you can determine whether a 1099 is required.

I’ve been working on something. 👀

And it started with one question I hear from business owners ALL the time:

“What should I actually be looking at in my numbers?”

Not every number.

Not another giant spreadsheet.

Just the numbers that actually help you understand what’s happening in your business.

So I’ve been building something for the founders who want financial clarity without having to learn accounting along the way.

It’s simple. Practical. And very much focused on the numbers that matter.

I’m not revealing it yet…

But Friday, I finally get to show you what I’ve been working on. 👀

Stay tuned.

Something good is coming.

Getting married can change more than your last name. It can also affect your taxes.

If you’re married on December 31, the IRS generally considers you married for the entire tax year.

You’ll typically file as Married Filing Jointly or Married Filing Separately.

If you changed your name or moved, make sure your information is updated with the appropriate agencies.

It’s also a good time to review your tax withholding since combining incomes can affect how much tax you owe.

Don’t wait until tax season to figure it out.

Talk with your tax professional now to see what changes you should make before year end.

So, what actually happens inside a CFO/COO engagement?

It starts with understanding two things:

Where your business is now.

And:

Where you want it to go.

From there, the focus can include:

Better financial visibility.

Cash flow planning.

Profitability.

Strategic planning.

Hiring and growth decisions.

Pricing and investment decisions.

And making sure your financial strategy and operations actually work together.

The goal isn't more reports.

It's better decisions.

Because as your business grows, your bank balance and last month's P&L don't always give you the full picture.

You need to understand what's happening now, what's coming next, and what your numbers mean for the decisions in front of you.

What decision would be easier if you had a clearer financial picture?

That's exactly the kind of conversation we can have during a Monthly/Quarterly Business Review.

Your bookkeeper may be doing a great job.

But your business may have outgrown reactive bookkeeping.

As your company grows, the questions change.

It's no longer just:

"What happened last month?"

You start asking:

Can we afford to hire?

Why is revenue up but cash down?

Which clients are actually profitable?

Can we afford the next investment?

What will our cash look like three months from now?

Those are bigger business questions.

Bookkeeping tells you what happened.

Strategic financial management helps you understand what to do next.

Your bookkeeping still matters.

But when the business gets bigger, your financial decision-making needs to grow with it.

Are your numbers helping you make decisions, or just telling you what already happened?

A Monthly/Quarterly Business Review is a good place to start that conversation. Send me a message and let’s talk.
