A decision is not a moment. It is a chain of judgement.

Long before a decision reaches the table, the problem has been framed. Certain voices have carried weight. Some options have already disappeared.

And after the decision, judgement continues through ex*****on, adaptation, and what the institution learns next.

The Weight of a Decision | Institutional Judgement Review™. Link in bio https://nadineinspires.me/insights

The hardest institutional decisions are rarely between right and wrong.

They are between things that are both right—and cannot be given equal weight.

Growth matters. So does capacity.
Performance matters. So do people.
Urgency matters. So does consequence.

The challenge begins when legitimate priorities compete and someone has to determine what warrants weight.

That is judgment.

But judgment isn’t finished when the decision is made.

A decision travels.

Through the people expected to act on it.
Through budgets and competing priorities.
Through structures that accelerate it—or quietly resist it.

And eventually, through consequences.

An institution can make a perfectly defensible decision—and still lose time, talent, capital, credibility, or momentum.

The decision wasn’t necessarily wrong.

Something may have been missed in what was given weight.

That is part of what I mean by Institutional Judgment™.

So when strategy stalls, ex*****on falters, or the same issue keeps returning to the boardroom, the better question may not be:

What did we decide?

It may be:

What did we give weight to—and what did we fail to see?

New Year. New Connections. New Learnings. Thank you to the and International School of Tanganyika for hosting me, Nadine Inspires LLC, to facilitate the R.I.S.E! Responsive, Inclusive, Sustainable, Empowering Practices for International School HR Teams two-day workshop. It was invigorating to engage with such an active and dedicated group of professionals. Together, we delved into culturally responsive strategies, unpacked challenges, and strategized solutions to support Heads of School as strategic thought partners. I loved meeting, learning, and stretching our minds with this dynamic team. Excited to see the positive impact of our collective efforts across Africa!
