Myers Educational Consulting, LLC - Lindsey Myers Lindsey is from Winter Park, CO is eager to help students throughout rural Colorado with college and career readiness, starting prior to their junior year.

Lindsey Myers followed her dreams to become a Certified College and Career Counselor to pursue her passion and talent in working with youth in rural Colorado. Helping youth discover and realize their career path has been a recurring theme in the many life and educational experiences Lindsey has had since growing up in the small town of Winter Park, Colorado. Lindsey has a unique understanding of t

he recruiting process both as a student-athlete, playing Division II volleyball for University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (UCCS) and as a Coach for UCCS while pursuing her post-graduate degree. As a Fellow for El Pomar Foundation in Colorado Springs, she managed several programs such as the Student Leadership Council to develop student leaders in 11 different universities throughout Colorado and the Northwest Regional Council. The Northwest Regional Council was comprised of Grand, Routt, Mesa, Moffat, Rio Grande, and Garfield counties and focused funding towards business educational programs, which has evolved into a program called the Reach Your Peak Pipeline. Following work in Colorado Springs, Lindsey moved to the Vail Valley where she gained six years of invaluable experience with high school and college students on afterschool programming, internships, career exploration, and college scholarships as a Program Manager with Vail Valley Foundation’s YouthPower365 in Avon, Colorado. Along with this work she also evaluated all cradle to career programs for success and efficacy within the organization. Lindsey received her bachelor’s degree from UCCS in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing and a Master’s degree in Public Administration with an emphasis in Nonprofit Management. Her education continued by pursuing a Certificate in Career Development Facilitation from Colorado Mountain College in Edwards, Colorado; and after a year of exciting work, she received a Certificate in College Counseling from University of California-Los Angeles Extension in 2017. Testimonials

“I have had the chance to get to know Lindsey Myers for the past four years and she has never failed to help me with any questions I have pertaining school and the scholarship process this last year. Lindsey guided me to fill out a scholarship application correctly and has given advice on what to be prepared for during an interview, which resulted in my full tuition paid for at Colorado Mesa University over the next four years.” - Meredith, Class of 2017

“During my Junior year of high school, I started to think about my future in college. I wasn’t sure how to approach the recruiting system. Lindsey Myers has helped me impress coaches and give them a positive outlook towards me by building up a strong profile about me and my passion for soccer. She has also helped me find Universities that best fit me based on what I like. This has made my approach towards college soccer a fun and educational experience, which has helped me prepare for my future in a University I want to attend.” – Gustavo, Class of 2018

“When Lindsey and I met we discussed pursuing my steel and HVAC Fabrication interests. She gave me a few websites to get on to see my interests. We also talked about how a two-year program can lead into a four-year (Bachelors) business degree program.” – Will, Class of 2018

“So far I feel I am starting to find my way through the transition into college. Before I started working with Lindsey, I was intimidated and didn’t know the next step. I kind of knew the long-term outcome of what I wanted to accomplish after college, but I didn’t know how to get there. With these sessions I now feel I am starting to see the steps I need to take to get to where I want to be.” – Jake, Class of 2018

“I have working with Lindsey for about two months now. Before I started working with her, I had a few ideas of where I wanted to go to college, but I never knew how to get there. Once we started working together, I was able to grasp upon the idea of college and what I needed to do. Lindsey has helped me find what I wanted in a college. We’ve looked at several colleges I was interested in and she introduced me to ones she thought I would fit with as well. Now I have a solid idea of where I want to go and what I want to do in college and after college. Currently, we are working on the application process and looking into scholarships. Throughout the past two months, Lindsey has helped me a lot with my college decisions and I am excited to continue working with her.” - Isabella, Class of 2018

In honor of the Olympics this week, our Flash Back Friday today highlights an international university.

In May 2023, after attending an IECA Conference in Seattle, Zephyr and I drove up to the University of British Columbia. UBC is one of the world’s leading public research universities, consistently ranked in the top 40 globally. Founded in 1908, it has evolved into a powerhouse of innovation, sustainability, and international diversity.

🏅 UBC athletes have won over 65 Olympic medals. If UBC were its own country, its all-time medal count would place it ahead of many mid-sized nations in the historical Olympic rankings!

🥼 UBC consistently ranks among the top 3 universities in Canada. It attracts nearly $900 million in annual research funding and is home to TRIUMF, which houses the world’s largest cyclotron (particle accelerator).

🌲 A massive, 400-hectare site surrounded by forests and the Pacific Ocean. It’s famous for its stunning views, the Museum of Anthropology, and being a major filming location for Hollywood (e.g., X-Men, Supernatural, and The X-Files).

♻️ UBC is frequently named Canada’s most sustainable university. The Okanagan campus is heated and cooled using groundwater, while the Vancouver Aquatic Centre uses recycled rainwater.

🌎 The Vancouver campus sits on the unceded territory of the Musqueam people, and the Okanagan campus is on Syilx territory. All street signs on campus are bilingual, featuring English and the local Indigenous languages (hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ and Nsyilxcen).

The First Flash Back Friday of 2026!!

In May 2025, Zephyr and I drove across country and visited Emory University. Emory is a top-tier private research institution in Atlanta, Georgia, often referred to as a “Southern Ivy” due to its prestige and academic rigor.

🌃 One of Emory’s most unique features is that it offers two distinct starting points for undergraduates: Emory College, which is the main research campus, located in the historic Druid Hills neighborhood. Oxford College is the original historic campus located about 35 miles away and is a two-year “liberal arts” focused college exclusively for freshmen and sophomores (all Oxford students automatically transition to the Atlanta campus for their junior and senior years).

🩺 Because of its partnership with the CDC (located right next door) and its own world-class healthcare system, it is one of the best schools in the world for biology, nursing, and public health.

🥤The university’s growth was heavily funded by the Candler and Woodruff families, the founders and leaders of The Coca-Cola Company.

💀 While the official athletic mascot is Swoop the Eagle, the true “spirit” of Emory is Dooley, a skeleton whose “identity” is passed down from student to student in secret. During “Dooley’s Week,” the skeleton (guarded by students in black capes and sunglasses) wanders onto campus and can dismiss classes at will by walking into a lecture hall.

🎨 With over 500 student organizations, the “Emory experience” is largely defined by what you do outside of class. About 20% of students participate in fraternities or sororities. While active, Greek life does not dominate the social scene; there is plenty to do if you aren’t involved. Over 80% of students volunteer, and the campus hosts over 300 arts events annually.

FBF!!

In 2022, Zephyr and I traveled down to Arizona to see my snowbird parents in Tucson, AZ. On the way home, we stayed the night in Flagstaff, AZ to visit Northern Arizona University—a wonderful WUE school surrounded by ponderosa pines.

🏜️ Flagstaff offers a unique four-season college experience with plenty of snow in the winter for skiing and snowboarding, and cool temperatures in the summer for hiking and mountain biking. NAU’s location is near iconic natural attractions like the Grand Canyon National Park, Sedona, and the Lowell Observatory.

👟The university’s athletic teams, competing in the Big Sky Conference, are known as the Lumberjacks. Their mascot is Louie the Lumberjack. Located at 6,950 feet, this elevation is ideal for high-altitude training, which enhances endurance and performance. The NAU Men’s Cross Country team is one of the most successful collegiate programs in the nation, winning multiple NCAA national championships, often attributed in part to the benefits of training in Flagstaff.

🫆Some of the most popular areas of study include Psychological Sciences, Nursing, Biomedical Science, Criminology and Criminal Justice, Biology, and Engineering. The university is involved in substantial research, with an emphasis on environmental science, sustainability, and astronomy.

🌲The main campus is located in Flagstaff, a city situated at the base of the San Francisco Peaks and surrounded by the world’s largest contiguous ponderosa pine forest. The city is often ranked among the best college towns for outdoor adventure.

🍪 The “Tree Cookie” Tradition: When the Lumberjacks score a touchdown during a football game, members of the Logging Sports Club cut a slice of wood, known as a “tree cookie,” from a log on the field using a chainsaw.

Today we are flashing back to July 2021 when Zephyr and I took a road trip through California. We had the opportunity to see Santa Clara University, which is a private institution with a rich history, a prime location, and a distinctive mission.

📱SCU is located in Santa Clara, California, placing it directly in the heart of Silicon Valley. This location offers unparalleled opportunities for internships, networking, and post-graduation employment with world-leading tech firms like Google, Apple, and NVIDIA.

⛪︎ Founded in 1851, SCU is the oldest operating institution of higher learning in California and is a Jesuit, Catholic university. The university’s education emphasizes a commitment to social consciousness, ethical decision-making, and service, guided by the Jesuit principles of developing the whole person.

💵 SCU offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs through six colleges, including the Leavey School of Business, the School of Engineering, and the College of Arts and Sciences. The university is consistently ranked highly, particularly for its undergraduate teaching and business and engineering programs. It is classified as a “Doctoral/Professional” university.

🐴 SCU has a relatively small undergraduate enrollment (around 6,000 students), which fosters a close-knit community and promotes deep interaction between students and faculty. The school mascot is the Bronco, and its teams compete in NCAA Division I as members of the West Coast Conference (WCC).

🛕The campus is known for its beautiful Spanish Colonial Revival and Mission Revival architecture, centered around the historic Mission Santa Clara de Asís.

Go Broncos!

FBF!!
Last week, Zephyr and I made a quick trip to see the University of Colorado-Boulder. CU Boulder is a major public research university located in Boulder, Colorado. Founded in 1876, it is the flagship campus of the University of Colorado system.

🪐 CU Boulder is a member of the Association of American Universities (AAU), a group of leading public and private research universities in the U.S. and Canada. The university is particularly well-known for its science and engineering programs, especially in aerospace and earth sciences. A notable fact is that the university has sent instruments to every planet in our solar system. CU Boulder has produced five Nobel Laureates and multiple astronauts, including Kalpana Chawla, the first Indian-born woman in space.

🏔️ The campus is situated at the base of the Rocky Mountains, offering a stunning backdrop and easy access to outdoor activities like hiking and skiing. The city of Boulder itself is known for its vibrant, outdoorsy culture. The campus architecture is unique, with most buildings constructed in a distinct red-roofed style.

🦬 The university’s mascot is the Colorado Buffaloes, and it has a live buffalo named Ralphie who runs onto the field at home football games. The Colorado Buffaloes have won 28 national championships in various sports, including 20 in skiing and one in football.

♻️ CU Boulder’s Folsom Field was the first zero-waste stadium in the NCAA. The university has made a significant commitment to sustainability, including a highly-ranked zero-waste program that works to divert as much waste as possible from landfills.

📺 The university has a few famous dropouts, including Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, who left after a year, and the creators of “South Park,” Trey Parker and Matt Stone, who met there but did not graduate.

Flashback Friday!!

In May, Zephyr and Lindsey were on the tail end of their road trip when they stopped at the University of Kansas. KU is a major public research university in Lawrence, KS, with a rich history and strong traditions.

🐦The mascot is the mythical Jayhawk, a name with roots in the state’s abolitionist history. The “Rock Chalk, Jayhawk” chant is a famous and unifying cheer that is a central part of KU’s identity.

🏀 KU is renowned for its basketball program. Allen Fieldhouse, the home of the men’s basketball team, is one of the most celebrated arenas in college sports. KU has a long list of famous alumni, including the inventor of basketball James Naismith (who was also a faculty member), actor Paul Rudd, and basketball legend Wilt Chamberlain.

💵 KU offers over 400 degree and certificate programs, with a number of academic programs and is a significant economic driver for Kansas, contributing billions of dollars to the state’s economy annually through research, partnerships, and workforce development.

🌎 The campus itself is known for its beautiful hilltop setting and a mix of historic and modern buildings. The university has a large and diverse student body, with students from every county in Kansas, every state, and over 100 countries. There are more than 500 student organizations, and the community is known for its school spirit.

❤️💙🐦 Rock Chalk, Jayhawk!!
