“No, I’ve got it.

I always try to carry it by myself. :)”

…I said confidently to the bag boy at the local grocery store this morning.

I stood for quite some time gathering bags in my hand while he watched.

I then picked them up and thought…

“Wow, this is heavy.”

I still put on a front and carried them to my car of course…

As I neared my vehicle I realized I couldn’t touch the button to open the back.

“Hmm…unfortunate”

I thought as I set down SO many bags…

While doing so…I dropped my iphone face down on the concrete.

“Fun”..

I grumbled as I reached down to see if it was shattered or not..

And I had a thought…

One many of us can relate to…

One many of us avoid like the plague.

“Maybe I should have ask for help.”

Ick…I know.

But accurate..

And maybe you should too.

I know we confirm our strength with a smile as we attempt to convince the world that..WE’VE GOT THIS.

We ignore the calls of friends, stop showing up at church..

And we power through on coffee and distraction.

But it’s a lonely day standing in the parking lot of life….

When you look around at desolation…

As you figure out that you in fact don’t have it.

It’s soul searing when you could really use a hand…

And you remember all of the ones you pushed away.

Friend, you can’t carry it all alone…especially in pride.

I know it’s incredibly hard to trust anyone with your weaknesses..

But it’s equally as hard to be crushed under the weight of it all while you attempt to stand alone.

Choose your hard.

That brave face is good at hiding your wounds…

But it’s terrible at protecting you from them.

Somehow we mistake the two.

We are determined to push people away…

But whether in the parking lot of life…in the fire…or on the waves…

You’re going to need a friend to travel with on this journey…

I mean..

If Jesus had 12…

Maybe you need at least one. 🤍
