Today marks the publication of what I consider to be my most important scientific study so far - Nonvolitional s*x and HIV-related s*xual risk behaviors among MSM in the United States (http://journals.lww.com/aidsonline/Abstract/publishahead/Nonvolitional_s*x_and_HIV_related_s*xual_risk.98050.aspx). It originates from my own tragic experiences with interpersonal violence and shows that domestic violence in any form can have devastating effects on its victims. In this case, increasing the likelihood for participation in s*xual behaviors known to increase risk for HIV/AIDS among men who have s*x men. Hopefully, this research can spur a national conversation about how we can realistically support all victims of domestic violence and prevent associated health risks among marginalized populations.
