I'm grateful to have spent two days with the new Hull Fellows cohort at the Philanthropy Southeast Annual Meeting in New Orleans. What an inspring group of emerging philanthropy leaders...all on their way to Finding their Forte together. It's going to be a GREAT HULL FELLOWS year!

Thank you Tiffany Friesen, Utoia Wooten and the stellar Philanthropy Southeast team for entrusting Your Crescendo with this awesome responsibility to develop the next round of philanthropy leaders in the American South. This is my "cathedral to the Almighty" .

Last week I had the exciting opportunity to see the future of grant making up close. First of all, congratulations to Geoffrey Streat for taking on a purpose focused leadership role as Chief Catalyst Officer with The Imperative (for Black Communities)! Having worked with philanthropy organizations the last several years, many of them aspire to embrace the emerging best practice of participatory grant making. Geoff and The Imperative are doing it (shout out to co-founder Ade Oguntoye). This initiative will support organizations doing work in young black men mental health and the decisioning will be done by a group of metro Atlanta young black men (ages 18-30) passionate about and advocating for mental health. Starting with a visit to the Equal Justice Initiative (by the way ALL equity work should start with an EJI visit…more on that later), this cohort of grant makers will go through a healing circle experience and then identify and fund organizations doing this work.

So yes, you’re looking at the future in grant making. And Your Crescendo is excited to help facilitate the way.

Yesterday, we’re in purpose discovery session, and she mentions that, to build thought leadership, she wants to start a black women think tank! 😳 i get so excited about the concept and ask if i can be the person that passes out papers. And as she’s contemplating whether we commit to this, her Merriam Webster subscription sends her the word of the day. She forwards the text and this was it.

Yeah, i think that’s what we call confirmation.
